Members of the lighting committee of the Chamber of Commerce also representatives of the two lighting Companies- -and representatives of three Light Standard Companies were present and joined in the discussion. The'Pollowing motion was offered by Com. Kirtland ; That it be the intention of this Council that we expend not to exceed $600.00 per month for light, and that--the various Companies be asked to render a bid on this basis,including depreciation clause of 104 for first year, and further, that the City have the option of renewing this contract at the end of the first year at the 1/ same rate. For the.lack of a second the. motion was declared lost. It was moved by.L.F. Sinsheimer that a sum not to exceed 4 600.00 per month be expended for Street lighting.purposes..- that when bids are submitted the cost of the Gas or Electricity be. segregated from-the cost of the Standards ,fixtures, etc., and that the bidders agree to an interchange of. such standards, etc. The motion receiving..Ao-second was declared lost. The two lighting_Companies.ot the City were requested to submit informal bids, stating the amount of light.that could be furnished for the sum of 600.00 . Bids to be submitted on August 20th. The bills for the month of July were read. It was'moved by.L.F.. Sinsheimer and seconded by H.B. Kirtland that the bills be allowed with the exception of those..in Dr. Gowman's department and those to be paid when O.K. by Commissioner Gowman. The.motion carried. 4 On motion of.L.F. Kirtland the report of the Pound Master for the month of July was received and filed.. The application of E.G. Hayward for permit to remodel the building in Block 14 owned by-the Northrup,Estate, by.the- addition of a glass front,. the same having been referred for investigation at a previous meeting was granted upon motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by_H.B. Kirtland. Application of Fernandes Seraphina. for lodging house license , which had been held over for investigation was granted upon motion of H.A. Gowman- seconded by H.B. Kirtland. The application of Otto R. Miller for a Wholesale Liquor license.- The petition of H.N.Hansen.for a transfer of his Wholesale Liquor license to A. Galewsky and the application of A. Galewsky for a Wholesale liquor license,, all of which had been held over for the usual investigation were ordered granted upon motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by John Chapek. The matter.of. the appointment of Library Trustees was brought up.. The name �( of Miss Grace Barneberg was suggested by.Dr. Kirtland and that of Miss Edna Finney by Dr. Gowman. The matte r was left over to the next meeting. The Garbage.- question wa_s- again. brought up. The City Attorney submitted an abstract of such Ordinances in force.in other Cities. It was suggested by.Commissioner Chapek that all parties making application T for permits to.open ditches in the streets be required to make a cash deposit, said deposit to stand as a..guarantee that street would be put in proper condition on completion of work.
