The Clerk was directed to notify the Two Lighting Companies of the decision of
the Council that the.basic.priee for bids on light standards be y"p 20.00 per standard
installed. That the...Council have1the privilege.of selecting the style and kind of
Standard That.if the price:of the Standard.sele.oted be greater or less than 20.00
per Standard such difference shall proportionally be added to or deducted from the
basic price.
The matter of appointment of Library.'Trustees was brought up.
Mr. Sinsheimer suggested the name of Mrs. Rittenhouse less Ethel Jack & 2re. Hollister.
Dr. Stover presented the names of Iix. Shi!:sey, islr. Mabley,Idra ~. Wickenden,

Communications received from the State Board of Health and the League of
�TM California Municipalities, giving official notice of the joint convention of the
�1a said organizations to be held in the City,of Santa Rosa , during the week of Sept,24th
�`O..G and urging that delegates be sent to same. It was moved by.H.B.. Kirtland and
seconded by.L.F. Sinsheimer that-the-Commissioner of Public Health and Safety attend
the convention and that his expenses be paid by the City.. The motion carried,
The following.applications were received from the Santa Maria Gas & Power Co.:
To set Gas.re.gulator on piPe.line.on Santa Rosa St,.between Marsh and Pacific -St.;
To lay 2" Gas main on Santa Rosa St.. between Islay and Leff St., and East on Leff St,
To open ditbh for service pipe on Monterey St. at corner -of Broad Stt and on
Higuera St.,between Nipomo St,, and California Central Creamery Co.
On motion of L.F. Sinsheimer seconded by H.B. Kirtland the applications were
granted with instructions that the cement paving on Higuera St., be not disturbed.
Application of the Midland Counties .Public Service Corporation for permit
to ,open Gas.main'on Zonterey St. between Essex and Johnson Ave,,.received and granted
upon motion of L.F. Sinsheimer seconded by,H. B. Kirtland.

Central Addition , same to coat 1 10.00 , was ordered granted upon motion of H.B. Kirtland
seconded by L.F. Sinsheimer.
The application of Virginia King for permit to conduct a lodging house at
662 Osos St. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety on motion
of L.F. Sinsheimer seconded..by,.H. Be Kirtland,
Ernest Vollmer appeared before the Board seeking information in. regard to
some used pipe, which the City.had for sale. The matter was referred to the
Commissioner of Public Vorks and the Commissioner of Supplies.
In the,.matter.of the license.of the Elmo Theater;. it was found that in accordance
a(' with the provisions -of the license ordinance the annual licenses shall be due and
payable on the first day.of.July.of, each year for the fall year and not for a
portion thereof.
The appointment.of Library Trustees was left over until neat meeting.
The.Budget for the year 1917 -. 18 was discussed but left over untilThursday evening
when all members of the Board would be present.
On motion of L.F. Sinsheimer seconded by H.B. Kirtland the meeting adjourned
to_Thursday, evening August 30th at 7 :30 P.U.
