Insurance on City property v;as brought to the attention of
the
Council, and it was moved by :I.A. Gowman and seconded by H.D. Kirtland
that the
policies
be renewed with the same ac-ents- on the same property and for the same
amount..
The
motion carrded and it
was so ordered.
y� The matter of
loaning the Gas Tester to the-Polytechnic School was discussed and
left to Commi sioner
Cowman with rower to act.
The matter of
supplying the City Collectors office with Gas for
heating
purposes was taken up
and referred to Commissioner Kirtland with power
to act.
It was moved by H.A. Gowman and seconded by J6hn Chapek that the members of the
C Fire Department and the Police Depattment be given a straight 10% raise in salary.
The motion carried and it was so ordered.
The matter of the appointment of a City Treasuret to succeed the late il.w. Smithers
,:as before the Council. The al)plication of F.L. I:'athews for appointment to
that office was read.
Commissioner John Chapek nominated 1.11:1. Fitzgerald for the office of
City Treasurer , the nomination being seconded by Commissioner H.3. Kirtland.
p ct It was moved by =.I+. Kirtland and seconded by H.A. Gowman that the unanimous
ballot be cast in favor of A.F. Fitzgerald and that he be declared elected City Treasurer.
