Council met in regular session, I:Iayor Stover presiding.
Present, H.R. Kirtland, H. A. Gowm_an, L.F. Sinsheimer, John Chapek, :1.111. Stover.
Absent; None.
The minutes of April 21st were read and approved as read.
The following comrsmnicatione were received:
From R.F. Stewart, City Clerk of Arroyo Grande, in repaving gaps in the State
Highway through the Cities of Paso Robles, arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo.
From Service Aviation Training and Transportation Co:, relative to a landing
field for Airplanes.
From State Compensation Insurance Fund in re the Insurance of employees
of contractors.
From Carl Plow Grand Secretary Society of Dania of California. and lire. L?. Kajar
Grand Secretary Ladies Danish Society Dannebrog, accepting' and expressing thanks f)r
the invitation extended by the Cite of Ssn Luis Obispo for the tro orders to hold their
grand session of 1920 in this City.
It was moved by H.B..Kirtland and seconded by H.A. Gowman that the City Clerk
P communicate with Arroyo Grande - stating that the Council had authorized the Mayor to
telegraph Governor Stephens - urging him to sign Assembly Bill Yo. 454 and that--:we
�^r assure Arroyo Grande of our willingness to cooperate in any way in re paving connecting
links in State Highway through the Cities of Arroyo Grande , Paso Robles and
San Luis Obispo.
It was Moved by H.B. Kirtland and seconded by H.A. Gowman and carried that the
Liayor appoint a committee to look into the matter of an aviation landing field.
Other communications were ordemed filed on *notion of H.B. Kirtland seconded
by Jchn Chapek,
On motion of H.B. ?irtlsn d seconded by H.A. Gowman.the :iayor was instructed to
wire Governor Stephens urging him to sign Assembly Bill No. 454 relating to the
paving and maintaining of highways within municipalities. Th e motion carried.
Paul S. Roberts, manager of t he Commercial Hotel, was present and matte a verbal
protest against certain unsanitary cond &tions , which he claimed existed at the
City's Stables, at the rear of his premises.
It was moved by H.B. Kirtland and seconded by H.A. Gowman that the matter be
referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety and the Commissioner of
Public 'Works with power to act.
The following applications for permit to build were ordered granted on motion
of H.A. Gowman seconded by John Cha.pekz

The applications of the Santa Idaria Gas & Power Co. for Street opening on Islay
Street between Santa Rosa and Toro- Street and of the Womans Civic Club for Sewer connecti=
on L4onterey Street between Santa Rosa and Toro Streets were granted on motion of
John Chapek seconded by H.B. Kirtland.

The reports of the City Treasurer for the months of February and March and
those of the City Collector and police Judge for the month of April were received and
ordered filed on motion of.H.A.,.Gowma n seconded by H.B. Kirtland.
Cecil Moore Smith , on behalf of the American.17ar.Veterans ,_petitioned the
Council for permission to use the Council Chamber on the first and third 'Ilednesday
evenings of each month as a meeting place for that Organization... On motion of
L.F. Sinsheimer seconded by John Chapek the request was granted. _
On motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by H.B. Kirtland the following licenses were
ordered cancelled , the same having been repotted by the City Collector as " out of business'!

The application of Steve Zegar for license for taxicab which had been referred
for investigation was ordered granted on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded.by ._.B. Kirtland.
On motion of John Chapek seconded by H.B. Kirtland the application of the
Midland Counties Public Service Corporation for permission to remove old poles and place
new ones , which was referred at a previous meeting for investigation , was ordered granted.
} Mr. E.W. Clark of the Producers Transportation Co.,was present and there was
discussion in re the amount due the City of Sa.i Luis Obispo for Franchise tax for pipe
line running through this City.
It was moved by H.B. Kirtland and seconded by L.F. Sinsheimer that Mr. Clark be
requested to furnish the Council with the mileage of the various lateral lines leading
` into the main pipeline at Junction and also with the number of barrels of oil passing
through these lines into Junction.
J.H. riollister, representing the Stock mens Association presented the matter of
a subscription by the City in the amount of $ 250.00 the same to be used in the
Q furtherance of the movement by that Organization to hold an Annual Stock Show and Sale
in this City. Because of the question of the legality of such a contribution on
motion of L.F. Sinsheimer seconded by H.S. Gowman , the matter was leid over to the next
meeting.
An application was presented,,by Orrin F. nelson for permit to operate a motor
freight and pas:;enger line between the City

It was moved by L.F. ,Sinsheimer and seconded by John Chapek that the Election Officers
for the Municipal Election held in this City on the 7th day of April be alloyed $ 7.50,,each'
for their services. The motion carried and it was so ordered.
On motion of John Chapek seconded by H A. Gowman the .claims against the Cite
for the month of April were ordered paid.
On motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by L.F. Sinsheimer the meeting adjourned to
