Ga.-:ran, James Piper, John Chapek, L.F. Sinsheimer. Ansent: None. Communication of A.J. Regan and Emna Krebs in re paving Higu.era Street read and ordered filed. C 0n tLO�ion of John 0haT ek seconded by James Piper the following applications for permit to build were ordered granted Alva Paul - Lot 6 Block 37 Residence Cost 2000.00 c \�1, J.P. Silva -hot 1 Block 7 Reinforced Concrete Warehouse Cosy +4 �GG.CO .The application of A. Ferrini for Sewer connection on Santa Barbara Ave., between High and Upham Streets was granted on motion of John Chapek seconded by H.R. Kirtland. On motion of H.E. Kirtland seconded by John Chapek the application of !�Trs. Virzrinia J. Laitner for license for Tamale Factory was referred to t}ne Com*r:issioner of Public Health and Safety for investigration and report. The application of Bettencourt and Felix for license for Barber Shop, cigars as sideline , Pool table and soft drinks -,-,as ordered to take the same course. There was discussion relative to the matter of improving or razing the c i*nproven-.ents on property o-rmed by the City at the corner of Garden and Pismo Streets. The matter was referred to th_z Comrissioner of Public Forks for report to the Council, what in his judgment would be advisable to do. The matter of using Stenner.Creek for a Cattle Drive.was referred to Commissioner Gowmanfor report. The matter of fixing the Tax Rate -.eras taken up. The matter of -the School Rate was discussed and it was moved by R.E. Kirtland that the rate for School* purposes be fixed at .87 . There was, no second t,- the r cticn :and after further discussion the motion was -:rithdravrn. It was then moved by H.B. Kirtland and seconded by John Chapek , and unamiously carried , that the.rate for School purposes be set at .92.cents.
