The application of C.T. Kilber.n.for license for garage referred to Commissioner
Gowman for report , on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern,as was also the
application of W.H. Johnson for license for CigarLZtore, at 1605 Osos St.
On motion of Geo. T. Kilbern seconded by Ja,es Piper , Lee Fong Hing was granted
permit to lay 44 feet full width sidewalk and curbing on the South side of Monterey Street
between Santa Rosa and Toro Street.
The application of the Midland Counties Public Service Corporation for permit to
replace broken poles on Peach street between Santa Rosa and Toro Street was granted on
motion of James Piper seconded by Gdo. Tv. Kilbern.
On motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by James Piper , Herrera Bros. were granted
license for.Soft Drinks ., Billiards and Pool and Cigars as a Sideline.
The claim of C.A. Fourcade for a refund of $ 30.08 paid for delinquent Tax Sales
was ordered paid on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by James Piper'

The minutes of July 18th and 25th were read and approved as read on motion of
H.A. Goffman seconded by James Piper.
The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of James Piper
seconded by Geo, W. Kilbern:

Application of L.A. John for permit to recess curb for driveway on Mill Street
between Santa Rosa and Toro Street granted on motion of James Piper seconded by
Geo. W. Kilbern; also, to Amos W. Davis for permit to lay 49 feet of curbing on the
South side of Islay Street between Moro and Chorro Street.
The report of the City Collector for the month of July was received and ordered filed
on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by Goe. 17. Kilbers.

On motion of F.A. Go:vman seconded.by W.B. Martin the application of Thompson Reid
for permit to drill a well at. 1306 Higuera Street was granted.
The petition of P.W. Stearns for transfer of license for Soft Drinks to W.J. Beatty
was referred to Commissioner Gowman for investigation and report on motion of James Piper
seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern , as •,gas also, the application of Paul'.A. Negrich for license
for S®ft.Drinks.
On motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by W.B. Martin the Santa Maria Gas Company
was granted permission to open trenches for the purpose of installing Gas services at the

On Moro Street between Higuer and Marsh Street.; On Santa Rosa Street
between Monterey and Palm Street ; On Pismo Street between Santa Rosa and Toro Street
and on Pacific Street between Essex and Johnson Street.
On motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by James Piper the application of Carl Ganoes
Greater Shows for license for Carnival was rejected.
C.W. Kilbern was granted license for Garage on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by
W.B. Martin.
The application of W.H. Johnson for license for Cigar Store at 1505 Osos Street
was again laid over for further investigation.
On motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by W.E. Martin the application -of the
fot.o Midland Counties Public Service Corporation for permit to set poles and anchors on
Garden Street between Marsh and Pismo Street was granted .
On motion of James Piper seconded by H.A. Gorman the application of the
California Polytechnic School for permit to connect the:.said premises with the City-Sewer
was granted.
The application of John C. Gibson for permit to construct a 6 x 4 culvert across
property in Block 23 was granted on motion of James Piper seconded by W.E. 11artin ,
subject to the approval of the City Engineer , W.B. Burch.
