Gowman ( and seconded by James Piper that the City Clerk be empowered and directed to accept l statement from the Commercial Bank detailing the names, numbers and amounts paid in the matter of the ?harsh Street Storm Sewer Assessment: This to be a certified statement if �j possible, to be used as a guidance.in cancelling assessments on the official record in the City Clerk's office Motion carried. On motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by R.B. martin , John.C.Gibson was granted permit to remove a corrugated iron building in Block 23 which now faces on Monterey Street - to a position in the same Block but facing on Higuera Street. On motion of H.A. Giwaa.n seconded by James Piper , John C. Gibson was also granted permit to remodel and-repair building in Block 96 - said repairs to be either of Briek or concrete , at a•cost df $ 4000.00 The matter of the extension of Munoz Street was referred to the City Attorney for investigation. kv � A petition was received from property owners on Garden Street between Higuera and l Marsh Street protesting against the establishing of an Undertaking and Embalming parlor in that district. Martin the matter i d was referred to the dity Attorney for legal opinion as to whether or not the Council has . the legal right to prohibit the operating of such business within certain limits. 0 The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of H.A. Martin seconded by James Piper the following applications for permit to lay sidewalk and curbs were granted: Kenneth Beck -- 50 1/4 feet 5ft park sidewalk and curbing on the North side of Higuera Street between Essex and Johnson Street. Sinsheimer.Bros -- About 200 feet curbing and gutter on the East side Garden Street between Islay and Leff Street. �I Abe Bloomberg -- 42 feet 5 ft, park sidewalk on the;west side Santa Rosa Street between Monterey Street and Pala. Street.. Christian Science Church -- 40 feet full width sidewalk and curbing onthe east side Garden.Street between Pismo and Pacific Street. The following applications for permit to connect with the City Sewer were granted on motion. of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by 'T.B. Martin : Abe Bloomberg -- Santa Roas Street between Yonterey and Palm Street. Standard Oil Company -- Santa Rosa Street Between Monterey and Palm Street. Annabel Duke -- Bushon Street between Toro and Essex Street._. H.E.-Cox --- Bu®hon Street between Toro and Santa Rosa Street. On motion of H.A. Go.vman seconded by Geo. T. Kilbern the Santa Maria Gas Co. was permittdd to open trench on Pacific Street between Essex and Johnson Street for the purpose of laying service pipe. The application of L. De la Rosa and J. Moreno for license for Restaurant at 1020 Moro Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety on motion of W.B. Mattin seconded by James Piper as was also the petition of 'Mrs. A.G. Former for transfer of license for lodging house to Amanda Adams. The official Bond of Annie I.T. The petition of P.W. Stearns for transfer of license for Soft Drinks to W.J. Beatty, granted on motion of H.A. Go.vman seconded by James Piper. On motion of H.A. Gc,,v -_an seconded by James Piper , Paul A. Negrich'was granted license for Soft Drinks. F.H. Johnson was granted license for Cigar.-.'Store at 1619 Osos Street on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by W.B. Martin. Relative to license No. 140 issued to Mrs Esther Mathews.— It was moved by W.B. Martin and seconded by H.A. Gowman that the report of the City Attorney be accepted and that the license be cancelled. Motion carried and it.was os ordered. On:motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by H.A. Gowman the resignation of 77.t. Roselip as City Engineer was laid over for further condideration. 1 �Z� _ Relative to the purchase of a Ford Truck for the Water Department, Commissioner James Piper was to look into the matter and bring up at some future meeting. On motion of H.A.Gowman seconded by Geo. W. Kilbe_n the City Clerk was directed to advertise for bids for 500 feet of 2 1/2 inch double jacket lire hose.
