City Hall, Monday, May 15th 1922 - 7 :39 P.M.

City Council met in regular session - Mayor L.F. Sinsheimer presiding.
Present : W.B. Martin , H.A. Cowman , Geo. We Kilbern, James Piper , L.F. Sinsheimer.
Absent None.
The minutes of May let., 8th. and 11th. were read and approved as read
on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. We Kilbern.
The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of
Geo. We Kilbern seconded by James Piper:
J.P.Bolita - Residence Lots 1 & 2 Block 179 Cost $ 11000.00
Julius A. Leitner - One Room - Lot 4 Block 75 " 100.00
Margaret Kohler - Residence Block 3 " 10800.00
Adam Horn - Residence & Garage Block 35 " 2,300.00
Albert Nelson - Garage Block 28 " 100.00
F.L. Garrett - Garage Block 201 A " 200.00
Mark Evans - Addition of Porch Block 135 60.00
P. Lamas - Repairs Block 35 " 60.00
The application of S.M. Anderson for permit to raze buildings on property
of J.L. Anderson in Block 17 was granted.
On motion of Geo. We Kilbern seconded by James Piper , J.H. Logan was
granted permit to remove a house from Lot 9 Block 104 to Lots 21 & 22 Block 3 Central
Addition, subject to the decision of the City Engineer as to whether the pavement on
Santa Rosa Street is sufficiently hard to permit of heavy loads cros -sing same.
The applications of Ed N. Kaiser for license- for Cigars Sideline, Soft
Drinks and Dancing privilege at 1070 Higuera Street were referred to the Commissioner of
Public Health and Safety for report on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. We Kilbern,
as was also the application of S. Zegar and Chas Conner for license for Soft Drinks at
1013 Chorro St.
The application of Maddalena,Dodd and Maddalena for permit to out sidewalk
on Higuera Street between Broad and Nipomo Street for the purpose of installing gasoline
sidewalk pump , was granted on motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by James Piper.
The application of G.P. Baker for permit to construct a temporary bridge
over Stenner Creek at Dana Street was granted on motion of Geo. We Kilbern seconded by
James Piper subject to the inspection of.-.the City Engineer A sign to be placed at said
bridge giving limit of load..
On motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern , G.W. Baker was
granted permit to grade certain streets in " Linda Vista Addition °
It was moved by Geo. 77. Kilbern and seconded by James Piper that a sign
be placed on Sandercock Street Bridge limiting the load. Motion carried.
Application of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to
move three poles on Santa Rosa Street between Monterey and Higuera Street,on account of
curb construction was granted on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern.
Applications of the Midland Counties Public Service Corporation # 47 & 48
for permit to do certain work on Ruth Street between Upham and George Street and at the
corner of Higuera and Morro Streets respectively , were granted on motion of Geo. W. Kilbern
seconded by James Piper.
Application # 46 of the hereinabove named Corporation for permit to set
poles on Palm Street between Toro and Essex Street was referred to the Commissioner of
Public Works for report on motion of H.A. Cowman seconded by James Piper.
