Attorney Albert Nelson City Hall, Monday , May 22d. 1922 - 7 :30 P.M. City Council met in adjourned session - Mayor L.F. Sinsheimer presiding. Present : W.B. lartin , Geo. W. Kilbern, James -Piper , L.F. Sinsheimer. Absent H.A. Gowman. A ooamunication was received from the Chamber of Commerce extending an. invitation to the Council to a "tend a reception scheduled for Thursday May 25 th., to celebrate the removal of its offices to 1036 Chorro Street. On motion of W.B. Martin seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern the invitation was accepted with thanks and ordered filed. ' The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by W.B. Martin : Joseph Rusca - Garage Block 149 Harford Addn Cost 8 50.00 S.L.O. Exposition Park - .Grand Stand South Side Villa Tract. a 6,000.00 John Fernandez - Repair Work ", 150.00 John H. Leu - Repairs to Residence Lot 14 Block 135 ". 75.00 J.N. Logan - Removal of building from Lot 12 Block 96 to Lots 1 & 2 Block 110 The reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the month of April were received and ordered filed:on motion of James Pi_ner seconded by W.B. Martin. On motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by James Piper the following applica ions for permit to connect wit# the City Sewer were granted F.G. Onyon - Santa Ross, Street between Upham and S.P. Right of Way. J.C. Martines - Monterey Street betweeh Essex and Johnson St. J.H. Logan - Pismo Street between Archer and Carmel Street. appeared for R.C. Ivey G.W. Burbank and J.J. Jensen protested the granting of the said applications. It was moved by H.A. Gowman and seconded by James Piper that the matter be taken under advisement. The motion was lost by the following vote: Ayes : H.A. Gowman , James Piper. Noea : W.B Martin, Geo. W. Kilbern , L.F. Sinsheimer. Absent : None. 1 It was moved by L.F. Sinsheimer and seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern that the applications of R.C. Ivey for licenses be granted The motion carried. The matter of amending ordinance relative to signs and awnings left over to the next meeting. On motion of.H.A. Gowman seconded by W.B. Martin-the meeting adjourned to Monday May 22d at 7:30 P.M. The Santa Maria Gas Company -.was granted permit to open trenches at the following named locations, on motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by W.H. Martin: Higuera Street between French and South Street. Essex Street between Palm and .Mill Street. Palm Street between Santa Rosa and Johnson St. On motion of R.B. Martin seconded by James Piper the application of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to set pole on Pacific Street between Johnson and Essex Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investiati and report. . The applications of the Union Oil Cpmpany for permit to reset and renew telephone poles on Essex Street between Higuera and Monterey Street ; on Pismo Street between Walker and Archer Street and on Higuera Street 200 ft. north of City Limits were granted on motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by W.B. Martin. Applications of the "Midland Counties Public Service Corporation # 49 & 50 for permit to set poles on Monterey Street between Broad and Chorro Street and on Brizz Street between Villa and Clay Street , granted on motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by W.B. Martin. On motion of James Piper seconded by W.B. Martin applications # 51 & 52 of the above named corporation were referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for repo Representatives of the Health Center appeared and requested the Council to appropriate funds to aid in carrying on the work of the said Institution. The matter was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report. S.J. Lowe addressed the Council, urging : that -the Council-cooperate with the owners of property on the San Luis Obispo Water Shed, in protecting the same from fir during the dry season. It was moved by James Piper and seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern and carried that the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, S.J.. Lowe and Forest Supervisor Mr. Ryan constitute a Committee to formulate a plan for said fire protection and submit same to the Council. . The application-of Ira Hodson for permit to lay 150 ft. full width side- walk on the South side of Pacific Street between Osos and Santa Rosa Street , and 100 ft. on the east side of Osos Street between Hacific and Pismo Street was laid over to the next meeting. On motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern the applications of Ed. N. Kaiser for license for Soft Drinks, Cigars Sideline and Dancing Privilege at 1070 Higuera Street were granted, as was also the application of S. 8egar and Chas Conner for license for Soft Drinks at 1013 Chorro Street . The Chief of Police was directed to look into the matter of the sanitary condition of the alley in Block 7 between Broad and Nipomo Street. On motion of James Piper seconded:by W.B. Martin the meeting adjourned-to Wednesday, May 31st. at 7:30 P.M. Ayes : W.B. Martin , Geo. W. Kilbern , James Piper , L.F. Sinsheimer. Noes : None. Absent H. A. Go:wman.
