Gowman seconded by James Piper , which motion unamiously carried, it was ordered that the canvas of the returns be entered upon the minutes of the Council.- Resolution No. 137 ( New Series ), A Resolution declaring and finding that the proposition of authorizing the Council.of the City of San Luis Obispo to levy a Special Tax for permanent Street Improvement, submitted to the qualified voters of said City on May 29th, 1922, received the votes of two thirds of all the voters voting at such election and carried, was introduced, adopted and passed on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by James Piper by the following vote : Ayes : H.A. Gowman, Geo. W. Kilbern , James Piper , L.F. Sinsheimer. Noes : None. Absent : W.R. Martin. On motion of James Piper seconded by H.A. Gowman the following applications for permit to lay sidewalk and ofarbing were granted : Margaret Kohler - 151 ft. 3 ft. park didewalk and curbing on the east side Beach Street between Marsh and Pacific Street. Henry Redmond - 50 ft. 5 ft. park sidewalk and curbing..on the South side of Monterey Street between Essex and Johnson Street. J. The report of the City Collector for the month of May was received and ordered filed on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by W.B. Martin. 143 44 The Santa Maria Gas Company was permitted to do work upon the following named streets on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern: Rachel Street between Osos and High Street. . Higuera Street between Nipomo and Carmel Strut. Upham Street between Santa Rosa and Ruth Street, Pismo Street between Santa Rosa and Toro Street, Higuera Street between Toro and Essex Street. Garden Street between Pismo and Pacific Street. Server connections were granted the following named, on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern: Ira Hodson - Pacific Street between Osos and Santa Rosa Street. F. Chiesa - Marsh Street between Toro and Essex Street. Josephine Seaton - Marsh Street between Ch rro and Morro Street, W.E. Alderman - Marsh Street between Toro and Santa Rosa Street. , The application of Henry Redmond for sewer connection on Monterey Street between Essex and Johnson Street , granted on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern with the rrovision that the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. The petition of Fred D. Chiesa for transfer of license for Restaurant at . 993 Monterey Street to Waldo Chiesa and Paul Bada was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern, as .vas also the application of George E. Day for license for Taxicab. It was moved by H.A. Gowman seconded by W.B. Martin and carried that the sum of $ 250.00 be contributed to the 4th of July Celebration Committee. In accordance with minute order of Dec 5th 1921 , the City Clerk was directed to advertise for bids for pump ( either new or used ). Said bids to be received up to and including Monday, June 26th. at 7:30 P.M. It was moved by W.B. Vartin , seconded by James Piper and carried that the Election Officers for the Special Municipal Election held On the 29th day of May , be compensated in the amount of $ 9.00 each. It was moved by H.A. Gowman , seconded by W.B. Martin.. and carried that claims against the City for the month of May be paid with the exception of two claims of the Union Oil Company in the amounts of $ 52.49 and $ 120.10 respectively.
