Gas Company was permitted to open trenches at the following named locations for the purpose of installing gas services: Nipomo Street between Pacific and Pismo Street Broad Street between Islay and Leff Street Branch Street between Story and Ward Street The report of the City Treasurer for the month of June was received and ordered filed on motion of James Piper seconded by H.A. Gowtnan. A communication was received from Mrs Josephine Seaton requesting that she be relieved of making an extra sewer connection for property on Marsh dtreet . No action. The claim of Thos Raper - $ 10.00; Geo. Matts -. $ 10.00 and E.B.Freer -$ 5.00 were ordered paid on potion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by H.A. Gorman. The matter of the cancellation of the license issued to Geo. E. Day for Taxicab ordered to lay over. In re matter of the application of American Legion for permit to hold a " Legion Frolic " July 17th to 21st , Commissioner H.A. Gorman moved that the application be granted Motion lost for lack of second. Matter laid over to the next meeting. Residents of the vicinity of Broad and High Streets appeared in support c the petition filed at a previous meeting relative to the alleged unsanitary and unsightly condition of certain property at the junction of Broad and High Streets. After discussion It was moved by James Piper and seconded by H.A. Gorman that the matter be referred to the City Attorney for written opinion as to the powers of the-Council in the premises. In re purchase of Fire Hose It was moved by H.A. Gowmsn and seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern that the Commissioner of Supplies together with the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety be authorized to purchase 200 or 250 feet of Fire Hose from the open market to fill immediate need. The motion carried. On motion of H.A. Gorman seconded byJames Piper the meeting adjourned . Approved this 17 day of 1922. Mayor City Jerk. City Hall, Monday; July 17th.1922 - 7:30 P.M. The minutes of July 5th.and 16th. were read and approved as read on motion of W.B. Adartin seconded by James Piper. The report of the City Clerk for the month of June was received and ordered filed on motion of James Piper seconded by.W.B. martin. J.F. Cribbens of the Seagrave Company appeared.before the Council relative to an unpaid claim of the said Company againstthe City of San Luis Obispo for crank shaft ,etc.,for Fire Engine. After discussion it was moved by H.A. Gowman and seconded by W.B. Martin that the bill be paid. The motion was lost by the following votE Ayes :. W.B. martin , H.A. Gowman. Noes :. James Piper , L.F. Sinshei=er. Absent Geo. W. Kilbern. In re purchase of Fire Hose : On motion of W.B. t.;artin seconded by H.A. Go. an the Commissioner of Supplies and the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety were empowered to purchase , as an emergency order, 200 or 250 ft. Fire Hose. The City Attorney's written legal opinion relative to the City's right to regulate conditions existing on G.W. Kilbern Block bounded by Broad, High and Upham Streets Was read and filed. The application of the American Legion for permit to hold a " Legion Frolic " was again laid over pending correspondence by. the City Attorney, with Culver City; On motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by W.E. Martin license # 2006 issued tol Geo. E. Day for Taxicab was ordered cancelled. On motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by James Piper the application of M.J. Brassill for license for Soft Drinks at 956Monterey Street was granted. The matter of Hearst & Jacobsen , Contractors , reported as operating without license was referred to the Clief of Police for report. On motion of H.A. Gasman seconded by W.B.
