City Council met in adjourned session - Mayor L.F. Sinsheimer presiding.

The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of
James Piper seconded by H.A. Gowman :-

The following applications for permit to lay sidewalk and curbing were
on motion of Geo. W. Kilbern seconded by James Piper
N.C. Brew - To repair 34.5.ft bitumenous sidewalk on the west side Broad Street between
Higuera ans Marsh Street,
J.C. Peyton - 50 ft full width sidewalk and curbing on the North side of. -Pismo Street
between Santa Rosa and Toro Street.
G.A. Snyder - 200 ft full width sidewalk on the North side of Marsh Street between
Uarden and Chorro Street; 41 ft. full width sidewalk on East side
Garden Street between Higuera, and Marsh Street and 50 ft. sidewalk on
private property.
The report of the Police Judge for the month of September was received and
ordered filed on motion of H.A. Gowman seconded by Geo. W. Kilberm.
The Merchandising Bond of F.R. Fanning in the amount of $ 200.00 ( secured
$ 200.00 in Liberty Bonds ) was appeoved and accepted on motion of Geo. W. Kilbern
by H.A. Gowman.

The petition of Mary J. Gnesa for transfer.of licenses for Hotel and Soft DriInks
at 995 Higuera Street to M.P. Tognazzini and that of Waldo Chiesa for transfer or interest
in license for Restaurant &t 989 Monterey Street to Paul Sada were referred to the Commiss
er of Public Health and Safety for report on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbirn.

The application of A. Christensen for license for lunch Counter at
1804 Osos Street was referred on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern to the
Commisioner of Public Health and Safety for report..
On motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern the application of
V.W. Johnson for license to sell Soft Drinks ( Cider ) was referred to the Commissioner
of Public Health and Safety for report.
The merchandising Bond of Henry-Redmond -in the amount of $ 200.00 ,
(Surety Edw P. Titcomb,) was approved and accepted on motion of H.A. Gagman seconded by
Geo. W. Kilbern,
J.F. Traver and James Naylor appeared before the Council and requested

that certain Gum Trees on City property in the vacinity of Broad and High Streets be
removed as the same were detrimental to the said petitioners property. After considerable k
it was moved by James Piper and seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern that the request be granted,
with certain provisions. The motion was declared lost.
After further discussion it was moved by Jamea Piper and seconded by
Geo. W. Kilbern that an agreement be entered into by the City of San LuisObispo, Mr. Naylor
and Mr Traver for the removal of the said Gum Trees, and provlding.f or the planting and
caring for by Bar Naylor and Mr.. Traver,...of ornamental trees along the curb line and at
such places as the Council may designate. The motion carried.
Relative to temporary walks for the benefit of school children during t
winter season, leading from Broad Street to the Hawthorne School Building , it was moved .
by H.A: cowman and seconded by James Piper that the matter be referred to the Commissioner
of Public Works with power to act.. The School Board agreeing to pay one -half expense
of the same.

The claim of the Santa Maria Gas Company in the amount of $ 630.00 for
straet lighting for the month of September was ordered paid on motion of James Piper
seconded byGeo. W. Kilbern.
The application of Samuel Terra for permit to build a garage on Lot 11
Block 61 was granted on motion of H.A.Gowman seconded by W.B. Martin.
The matter of repairs to the Fire Alarm System in accordance with
report of the Railroad Commission was brought up and it was suggested that communication
be had with the said Commission requesting extension of time.
On motion of H.A.Gowman seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern the meeting
adjourned to Monday,October 16th at 7:30 P.M.
