Claims against the City for the month of April were ordered .paid subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments, on motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. .19. Kilbern. It was moved by James Piper that the salary of the Police Judge be incre" to ;$ 50.00 per month. t10 second. motion lost. On motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Ma;;uesa was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety on notion of H.A.Uosvman seconded by.JarresPiper. .On motion.of.James.Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern the application of Quong Ung, for license for Noodle Parlor on Palm Street pas referred to the Commissioner of IPublio Health and Safety for report. The Merchandising Bond of R.I. Lawrence Co., Sureties: T.J.r'oley and IL.F. Sinsheimer , was approved on motion of James Piper seconded by H.A.Uo-aman. The said (bond is substituted in lieu of a similar bond filed April 3d'1923., &PPrQTt -d and accepted bJr the Council April 5th 192j, which was secured by a certified check in the amount of $ 19 00. 12( The following application3 of the Santo, Maria Gas Company for permit to open streets at the locations name.d , were granted on motion of H..A.Gowipan seconded by James Piper : Marsh Street between Nipomo and Beach Street. Monterey Street between Chorro and Broad Street Essex Street between Mill and Peach Street Toro Street between Peach and Mill Street Nipomo Street between Islay and Pismo Street. The following serer connections were granted on motion of James Piper seconded by H.A.Gowman: J.h;.Keeney - Dana Street between Nipomo-Street and Creek. Swift & Co - Higuera Street between Nipomo and Carmel Street. D Joseph Robasciotti - Toro Street between Peach and Sycamore Street. T.J. Smith - Higuera Street between Santa Rosa and Toro Street. Harry Dixon - Peach Street between Toro and Essex Street. J.H.Miller - (2) Ella Street between Johnson and Essex Street. The arrlication of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to replace poles on French Street , Lower Higuera Street between Walker and French Street, and on South Broad Street between High Street and South City Limits, also, to set new poles on Christian Street , Church Street between Garden and Morro Street and on Walker Street between Pacific and Pismo Street was granted,subject to the appIDoval of the City Engineer, and with the provision that the work is in conformity with the map filed kith the City relative to the reorganization of pole facilities. On motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern the official Bond of Chas. Forbes, Councilman, for the term beginning May 15th 1923 was approved. On motion of H.A.Gowman seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern the ofiicial Bond of L.F.Sinsheimer , Mayor , for the term beginning May 15th 1923 was approved. On motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern the official Bond o Cecil M. Carpenter , Councilman , for the term: - beginning May 15th 192J was approved. The petition of John Ghigliotti for transfer of licenses for Soft Drinks and Cigars Sideline at 1034 Morro Street to Jas. Moreno was laid over for one week on motion of H.A.Gowman seconded by James Piper. 'rhe application of Hamilton Bas.;ett for license to conduct a Feed Stable at 497 Marsh Street was before the Council. Petition of property owners in the immediate neighborhood, protesting against the issuance of said license was received and read. It was moved by H.A.Gowman and seconded by James Piper that the application be rejected. The motion carried.. A petition was received from property owners requesting that.the grade be established for Street and Sidewalks on Left Street between Osos and Toro Street , and on Santa Rosa Street between Leff Street and the Southern Pacific Co's right of way. On motion or James Piper seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern the City Engineer was directed to establish grades at the points named in said petition ':lotion carried. a It was moved by H.A.Gowman and seconded by Geo. W. Kilbern and carried that the Stutz Fire Engine Co., be compensated in the amount of $ 15.00 ( 3 days at N 5:00 a per day) for use of "Baby Stutz " for period-of three days in Fire Department. On motion of James Piper seconded by Geo. W.
