City Hall, Monday , June 4th 1923 — 7:30 P.M-
City council met in regular session — Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present : W.E. Martin, C.M. Carpenter , Chas. Forbes, L.r.Sinsheimer.
Absent : Geo. W. Kilbern.
-1,be minutes of May 21st and 28th were read and approved as read on motion
of C. ta. Carpenter seconle.i by W.B. klPartin.
On motion of W.B. :z.rtin seconded by Chas. Forbes the following ap7ilicat-
ions for permit to build were granted:

The application of Joseph Donnelly for permit to remove two small build=
ings , also a garage from Lot 1 Block 118 Reeds Addition to part of Lot 2 Block 59 was
referred to the Commissioner of Public works for investigation and report on motion of
W.B.Martin seconded by Chas. Forbes.
On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by W.B. Martin the Associated Oil Cornpan}
,�as granted permit.for the construction of a Gasoline Service Station on Lot 1 Block 116
Reeds Addition ,.at.a Cost of $.2,000.00; also to excavate for the installation of storage
tanks, lower curbs and lay side:ialks.
On motion of T.E.Martin seconded by C. ?A.Carpenter the following applicatic
V Iror permit to connect with the City Sewer were granted:
Eugenia Deleis5igues - Munoz Street between Essex and Johnson Street.
Joseph Donnelly - Buchan Street between Nipomo and Beach Street.
The applications of B.C. Dennis for licenses for Lunch Counter , Soft Drink
On motion of W.B.M.artin seconded by Chas. Forbes the application of
Wm. Barker for license for Bakery at 979 Monterey Street .vas referred to the Commissioner of
Public Health and Safety for report , as was also the application of Vim F.UoTe for license
for cigars sideline at 214 Broad Street.
The application of Jim Moreno for license for Soft Drinks at 1034 Morro
Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and
report on !notion of Chas. Forbes seconded by W.B.'_'artin.
On motion of W.B.Martin seconded by C.14.Carpenter the Santa Maria Gas C
was permitted to open trenches on the following named strets, viz:
On Church Street between Morro and Chorro Street.
" Higuera Street between Toro and Essex Street.
" Fig Street between Morro and Chorro Street.
" Essex Street between Pismo and Buchon Street.
" Morro Street between Sycamore and Olive Streit.
" Chorro Street between Upham and High Street.
The report of the City Collector for the month of May was received and
ordered filed on motion of W.B.Martin seconded by Chas. Forbes.
Petition received from Ah Louis requesting permission to sell Fire crackers
and Fire Works on July 4th. and for the week previous thereto. It was moved by
C.N.Carpenter that the petition be denied. The motion was lost for the lack of a.second.
After further discussion it was moved by W.B.M.artih and seconded by C.M.Carpenter that the
(petition be granted with the provision that the particular tyre of Fire Cracker or Fire
Forks permitted be under the supervision of the Comuissioner of. Public Health and Safety
-T &nd the Chief of Police; also all other regulations in connection therewith.
