It wqs moiaed by W.B.Martin and seconded by Chas Forbes and carried that the application be
granted with the provision that the work be done to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of
Eublic Works.
Action on the application of Geo. 17m. Otis for license for Garage was
.deferred to the next meeting.
In re application of Joe Stafanovich far license for Palmisrty: It was
moved by VI.B.I?artin that the application be denied. The motion was lost for the lack of
a second. Matter to be taken up at the next meeting.
on motion of Geo. Vie Lilbern seconded by FT.B.i.Iartin , Dr.`.II:I�c Sat over was
granted the privilege of a parking space in front of his office in Garden Streete
A letter from J.Y7.Schelling of San Diego was read by I- layo-r Sinsheimer,
advising that two U.Se Destroyers would arrive at Avila on October 27th $ Navy Day ). The
Mayor advised that he had taken appropriate action and a c o:,ittee was named to arrange
for the repeption of officers and cress.
It wad moved by 17,B. IuIartin and seconded by Geo. We Kilbern that fees
deposited by contractors for plans and specifications for Osos Street Paving be returned
to the unsuccessful bidders. The motion carried.
On motion of C.IWI.Caxpenter seconded by Geo. Vie Kilbera action on Bids for
Fire Hose was deferred::,. for one week.
On motion of Geo. Vie Kilbern seconded by W.B.11artin the meeting adjourned
to Monday, October 29th at 7;30 o'clock P.Me

On motion of Geo, IN Kilbern seconded by Chas. Forbes .the following
applications for permit to lay sidewalk and curbing were granted:
Board of Education - 150 ft full width sidewalk and retaining wall on the east side of
Santa Rosa Street between Palm and I1ill Street.
A.H.Eaufman - 150 ft 5 ft park sidewalk and curbing on the north side Islay Street
between Santa Rosa and Toro Street.
The application of H.L.Cramer for position as Driver of Fire Truck was
received and ordered filed on motion of_'C.I:I.Carnenter seconded by Chas. Forbes.
Petition of Carlos Serrano for permit to open trench across North Broad St
near A,T.Cook place', for the purpose of laying a water pipe, was granted on motion of
Geo. W. ?ilbern seconded_by C:I:I. Carp - enter.
A communication was received from the Chamber of Co;111merce relative to
City Planning and Zoning and suggesting that a committee be appointed from the Council to
act with a similar committee from the Chamber of Commerce , along the lines indicated.
It was moved by Chas. Forbes and seconded by Geo. l ^i. 7ilbern that the communication be
received and filed ; that the IJayor appoint a Committee from the Council , or the Council
as a whole , to aet with a similar committee from the Chamber of Commerce. Discussion,
C- .Carpenter moved to amend the above motion with the -orovisiol2 that the Committee report
to the Council their plait. of procedure. The amendment z =.gas seconded by Cl!aso ?a'orbes.
Further discussion The Original motion , also the amendment was i,iithdrawn.
Upon suggestion by I;iayof L .,F.Siiisheimer,it was moved by Chas. _Forbes and seconded by
Geo. Y. Iilbern that the said communication be received and planed on file with thanes;
that the Council may avail itself of the offer of the Chamber at such time and in suuh
mama r as the COIU-Icil may determine. The motion ca -vied.
The matter of the purchase o= Fire Extinguishers was left to the Commissi
of Public Health and Safety to act as he deems e__pedient.

Said rose to be the highest type of nose via ufactured by the said coirroany. The motion
