On motion of C.M,Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the City Clerk Bliss
directed to wire the league of California Ldunicipalities and the State Highway Commission,
that a vacancy existed in the office of City Engineer of the City of San Luis Obispo, with
request that publicity be given same and inviting applications.
On motion of C.I:I.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the meeting adjourned
to Monday , April 28th. at 7:30 -P,Id.

The minutes of April 21st and 28th were read and approved as read on motion
of Chas Forbes seconded by }Y.B.Illartin.
The applications of 0. Van Proyen for, permit to do certain remodeling in the
Axtell Hotel Building was aran.ted on motion of YI.B.I:Iartin seconded .by Chas Forbes.
The following applications for permit to lay sidewalk and curbing were
granted on motion of Geo.':'d.Kilbern seconded by C.I,I.Carpenter

between Santa -'osa and Toro Street.

In a communication , C.C.Lang requested that he be permitted to remove three
pepper trees which_ stand in the way of curb line on the south side of Islay Street between
Broad and Plipomo Street Discussion. It was moved by W.B.I1artin and seconded by
Geo.!,'I.I'ilbern that the request be,granted , Discussion. Chas Forbes seconded by
Geo.'.-!.T,Tilbern moved to amend the motion thus : that the matter be referred to the Com-
missioner of Public i;orks for investigation and report. the amendment carried,
By consent the original motion was withdrawn. It was them moved by Chas I'orbes and
seconded by C.I,I.Carpenter that the matter be referred to the Commissioner of Public 17orks
for investigation and `report. The motion carried,
On motion of ':'J.B.I,Iartin seconded by C.!e!.Carpenter the reports of the Police 1
Judge and the City Collector for the month of April were received and ordered filed,
Application of the b:Iidland Counties Public Service Corporation a 85 for
permit to set one pole and install one anchor on Olive Street near Osos Street, also to
remove one anchor on Olive Street near Santa T,osa Street , was granted on motion of
C.I:I.Carpenter seconded by VJ.B.Llartin, with the provision that the work be done to the
approval of the Commissioner of Public Works,
On motion of W.B.I,Iartin seconded by C.1.- T.Carpenter the Merchandising Bond of
Geo. _°_.Butt , Surety L.Ouintana; and n.B.Coons, surety J.H.FIenry, were ordered cancelled
and sureties released.

Pacific Depot protesting against the open automobile muffler and speed on Osos Street
was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report on motion of

In re Traffic Officer It was moved by V..B.Ilartin and seconded by Chas Forbes 1
and carried thftt the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety bring to the Council
recommendations for such officer.
