City Council met in regular session - Mayor L6F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present C,M,Carpenter , Geo.1•u.Kilbern Chas Forbes, L6F.Sinsheimer.
Absent W.B.Martin.
The minutes of August 18th and 25th were read and approved as read on motion
of Chas Forbes seconded by Geo.W.Kilbern.
On motion of Geo,W.Kilbern seconded by Chas Forbes the following applications
for permit to build werle granted :
C.O.Dyer - 4 room residence Lot A Block 16 Central Addition Cost 19200.00
M,F,Dyer - Garage Lot 13 Block 3 Mc Brides Tract " 100.00
Battista & Rosa Giovanottu - Shed lot 3 Block 33 " 20.00
Dollie Dunning - Addition of Room Lot 3 Block 2 Central Addition " 15060C

On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by Geo,W.Kilbern the application of J,T.Ros
for permit to lay 72 ft, of 7 fte sidewalk on the,east side of Morro Street between Pismo
and Buchon Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and
report.
Application received from E.A.Branch, Contractor, for permit to lay and
construct cement sidewalks and curbs in Mt6 Pleasanton fiquare Addition , on those streets
and parts of Strects which lie within the boundaries of the City. Discussion.
It was moved by Geo6W.Kilbern and seconded by Chas Forbes that the application be granted.

The application of Anita Hathway for permit to connect with the City Sewer
on Hathway Avenue between Third Street and I:iurray Avenue was granted on motion of
Geo.W.Kilbern seconded by Chas Forbes. -
On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by Geo,V!.Kilbern the report of the Police
Judge for the month of August was received and ordered placed on file.
The report of the City Collector for the month of 9uggst-was received and
filed on:- motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes.
The application of Dr. P.A,1=likin for permit to install and operate a
gymnasium in the Wineman Building was granted on motion of C.M.Cairpenter seconded by
Chas . Forbes.
Communication received from John H.Machado , relative•.to certain -Water Right
at Laguna Lake. Discussion. On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by Geo.W,Xilbern

the communication was ordered placed on file.
In a communication the resignation of W,F.Cook as Chief of Police was
received Discussion It was moved by C.M.Carpeiiter and seconded by Chas Forbes
that the communication be received and placed on file and that the resignation of 14r.Cook,
with regret, be accepted. The motion carried. Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer voting " No "

Ordinance No. 104 ( New Series) , An Ordinance Levying a Tax for the current
Fiscal Year ( 1924 -1925 ) upon all Taxable property within the City of San Luis Obispo
and fixing the rate of such Tax at $ 1.42 on each $ 100.00 in valuation , was finally
passed on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by C.M.Carpenter by the following vote:
Ayes : C.Ir_.Csrpenter, Geo.':f.Kilbern, Chas Forbes, L.F.Sinsheimer.
Noes : 11one.
Absent W.B.I. ?actin.
The opinion of the City Attorney relative to the exemption of ex soldiers,
sailors or marines, from the payment of license was ordered filed for future reference
on motion duly seconded.
On motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Geo,W.Kilbern the application of
Burriss and Stephenson for license for Cigars Sideline and Soft Drinks at Service Station

at corner of High-and Higuera Street were granted on motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by
Geo.Fl.Kilbern. The Merchandising Bond of the hereinabove named, Surety 17m Mercer, was
approved and license ordered issued.
The petition.of S.F,.Schuyler for transfer of license for Groceries and
Cigars Sideline at 1447 $each Street to T.J.Janes was granted on motion of C.I1.Carpenter
seconded by Chas Forbes.
M.F.Dyer , of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company appeared and
made verbal application for permit to remove and erect certain polls as per map presented.
Upon discussion thereof it was moved by 0.11.Carpenter and seconded by Chas Forbes that the
matter lay over for one week. 1.1otion carried.

The license of Hamilton Bassett, Feed Stable $ 2.00 ; Stornetta Ivliik Wagon, $ 5.00 and
Dr.L.T.Rade , Physician 5.00 remaining unpaid, it was the sense of the Council that
the same be collected.
On- ,motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes claims against the City
for the month of August were ordered paid subject to the approval of the heads of the
respective departments.
