Carpenter, L. F. Sinsheimer. There being no quorum present the meeting was adjourned to Wednesday, December 3rd, at 7:30 P.M. Approved this /.S day of ' Z geJ 19240 Mayor. City Clerk. 1 City Hall, Wednesday, December 3rd, 1924. 7 :30 P.M. City Council met in adjourned session, Mayor L. F. Sinsheimer presiding. Present: W. B. Martin, C. M. Carpenter Geo VI. Kilbern, Chas Forbes, L. F. Sinsheimer, Absent: None. The minute's of November 17th and 24th were read and approved as read on motion of Chas Forbes, seconded by Geo !,'1: Kilbern. In re of garage of Henry Tartaglia, Lot 5, Block 67, Mission Orchard Tract, being constructed contrary to Ordinance : - On motion of Chas Forbes, seconded by !'1. B. Iviartin, the Commissioner of Public 11[orks was instructed to see that the said garage was moved back from property line, and report to Council. The application of Latvrence Austin for permit to construct a residence on upper Monterey Street, at a cost of $5500.00, was granted on motion of Geo 111. Kilbern, seconded by Chas Forbes. On motion of Geo l'1. Kilbern, seconded by C. Iv:. Carpenter, the application of D. El. Meredith, for permit to lay 110 feet of full width sidewalk on the West side of Garden_ St between Pismo and Buchon Sts., was granted. Sewer connections were granted the'following, on motion of Geo W. Kilbern, seconded by Pl. B. Martin: F. Chiodo - Munoz St and Johnson Ave. (Correa property) Seventh Day Adventist Church - 'Santa Rosa St., between Pismo and Buchon Sts, C. Imlay and Granger - Upham St., between Santa Rosa aad' Toro Sts. On motion of 14. B. Martin, seconded by Geo'111. Kilbern, the Pacific Tel P Tel. Co was gin-ranted permit to 'replace poles at the following named locations: Higuera St., at corner of Ida St, Broad St., at corner of Islay St, Osos St., at the corner of Leff St. The application of the Western Garage for permit to install a gasoline side- walk pump, was granted on motion of Geo W. Kilbern, seconded by Chas Forbes, with the provision that the installation be made under the direction of the City Engineer. The merchandising Bond of A. J. Gregory and G. !'1. Anderson,'surety H. H. Carpenter, was approved on motion of W. B. Martin, seconded by Chas Forbes. The Reports of the Police Judge and the City Collector for the month of November, were received and ordered filed, on motion of Chas Forbes, seconded by Geo W. Kilbern. y71 272 The petition of S. H. Nelson, et al, filed December 1st, withdrawing sig- natures from the petition signed with G. C. Mathews, D. Muzio, and others, for the improve- ment of Palm Street, was received and ordered placed on file, on motion of If. B. Martin, seconded by Chas Forbes. The petition of H. C. Knight, et al, for the improvement of Palm St between between Johnson and Grove Sts. by grading to a sub grade -and gravelling to a depth of five inches and to a width of forty feet, was received. Discussion. It was moved by C. M. Carpenter, seconded by W. B. Martin, that the work asked for under the petition be author- ized under the direction of the City Engineer -- motion carried. Petition of G. C. Mathews, et al, filed on November 3rd and refiled on December 3rd, requesting the paving of Palm Street, was read. Discussion followed. It was moved by C. M. Carpenter and seconded by Chas Forbes that the respective petitions be received and placed on file, to be taken up at such time as the City Engineer reports as to the cost of the respective types of pavement. Motion carried. Claims against the City for the month of November were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments, on motion of W. B. Martin, seconded by Geo W. Kilbern. Upon favorable report, and motion of W..B. Martin, seconded by Chas Forbes, it was ordered that a Warrant in the amount of $100.00 be drawn in favor of American Legion Post 766, for the purchase of a certain lot of flags and bunting. Relative to the improvement of Lower Higuera Street: Commissioner Geo W. Kilbern reported that he had interviewed the County Board of Supervisors relative to same; that the said Board refused to do any improvement on said street and desired to return same to City. Matter discussed. It was moved by Geo W. Kilbern and seconded by C. M. Carpenter that the City Attorney draw the necessary papers for the return to the City of San Luis Obispo, by the County of San Luis Obispo, that certain portion of lower Higuera Street whic had been turned over to the County Board of Supervisors, and present to the County Board of Supervisors for their execution. The motion carried. On motion of C. M. Carpenter, seconded by Chas Forbes, the City Engineer was directed to furnish the Council with a report recommending the type of improvement on lower Higuera Street and also an estimate of the cost thereof. Motion carried. The application of J. S. Sullivan for license for Soft Drinks and Cigars Sideline at Winter Garden, Kaiser Building, were granted on motion of C. M. Carpenter, seconded by W. B. Martin. There was discussion relative to the purchase of an automobile for use in Police Department; matter laid over to the next meeting. On motion of W. B. Martin, seconded by C. M. Carpenter, the meeting adj to Monday, December Sth, at 7 :30 P.M. Ayes: W. B. Martin, C. M. Carpenter, Geo W. Kilbern, Chas Forbes, L. F. Sinsheimer.
