City Hall, Monday, April 20th -1925 - 7 :30 P.M.
City Council met in.regular session - Commissioner W.B.Martin presiding:
Present : W.B.Martin, C.M.Carpenter , Geo.Vl.Kilbern, Chas Forbes.
Absent : L.F.Sinsheimer.
The minutes of March 16th. 18th. 26th. and 30th. and April 6th. 10th and
13th. were read and approved as corrected on motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbei
The application of the Midland Counties Public Service Corporation for permij
to repair present store room on lots 8-9--10 and 11 Block 117 Reeds Addition was granted on
motion of Geo,W,Kilbern seconded by C.U.Carpenter.
On motion of Geo.W.Kilbern seconded by Chas Far bes , L.M.King was granted
permit to lay 50 feet of full width sidewalk on the west side Chorro Street between Pacifii
and Pismo Streets,
Mrs, Mabel E. Smith was granted permit for sewer connection on Palm Street
between Ida and Grove Street.
Petition received from Cline's Electric Shop requesting permit to remove an
electric sign and hang new electric sign at'Kamm's Garage. Petition referred to the
Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report on motion of. Geo *W.Kilbern seconded by
Chas Forbes.
On motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the report of the City
Treasurer for the month.of- March was received and ordered filed.
Communication was received from Gin Quoc King, chinese laundryman, 1149
Monterey Street, in which it was requested that the petitioner'be exempted from the pay-
ment of license for laundry since no labor save his own is employed in conducting said
laundry, The petition was denied on motion'of Chas Forbes seconded by C.M.Carpenter
in accordance with provision of Section 55 of License Ordinance No. 76 ( Nes Series ).
Communication of J. Lamas was referred to the City Attorney for investiga
ion and full report to the Council.
. Petition received from Jas. Be Vail entering complaint against V1.J.Duddleson
Chief of Police, and requesting the Council to take such appropriate action as it may see
fit concerning the matter . Following the reading of the petition , Commissioner
C.M.Carpenter. moved as follows : that inasmuch as the subject of the petition of
Mr Vail has become a- matter of. newspaper publicity , and , inasmuch as there have been sui
and counter suits filed by the principals in the controversy , that the petition be receiv
and placed on file pending the outcome of such suits The motion was seconded by
Chas Forbes and carried.
The petition of A.H.Brazil for permit -to hang a sign at-981 Monterey Street
was granted on motion of C.I:I.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes.
On motion of C.LI.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the petition of
Earl WAft od for transfer of license for Taxicab to James Vega was granted.
Clatter relative to the proposition of merging the City Health Department
with the County Health Unit was deferred to the next meeting for discussion.
It was moved by C.M.Carpenter and seconded by Geo.17,Y- ilbern and carried that
the hearing set f6r Monday. April 20th in reference to the issuance of Bonds to represent
unpaid assessments in the matter of the improvement of Marsh, Higuera and other streets,
be adjourned to Monday, April 27th at 7:38 o'clock F.M.
