The following a;,plications for permit to build were granted on motion_ of Chas Forbes seconded by John Chapek: Lena Sanders - Garage pt lot 2 Block 37 Cost $ 55.00 P.H. Christensen - Garage pt lot 10 Block 89 Murray % Church Add_! " 150.00 Application of Idiathews and Carpenter for permit to lay 50 ft of full width sidewalk and curbing on the South side of Figuera Street hetween Lorro and Osos Street, and 90 ft of same on the east side I•orro Street between Higuera and IITarsh Street was granted on motion of H.B.Cox secorsied by John Chapek. Applications of Antoine B. lotto for license for Cigars Sideline and Soft Drinks. confectionery , etc., at 1015 ?,Morro Street were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report. On motion of Joh_!? Chapek seconded by H.F.Cox the application of ?I.A.I'itzgera for hermit to connect with the City Seger on Higuera Street between Ida and Grove •Street was c-ranted. I- molieation of Ididlend Counties Public Service Corporation 102 for permit to set pole on ;lard Street between High and Sandercock Street was granted on motion of John Chapek seconded by .;.Cox. The merchandising Bond of C.--,-'.Cook , Surety W.T. Shipsey -arid. Belloni s Foxen, Surety, John Zdorton, were received and on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.3.Cox the said Bonds were approved and the surities accepted. The application of Chas F. On motion of C.Z:.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the petition of property owners protesting against the burning of rubbish on the vacant lot at the corner of Islay and Chorro Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public l,.orks for investigation and report. The report of the City Treasurer for the month of September was received and ordered filed on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by C.IsI.Carpenter. The merchandising Bond of ivIrs C.E.rerry, Surety, I. Shouman of the Hanford Furniture Co., Hanford, California , was approved, and the surety accepted on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by C.bT.Carnenter. The application of Gusta L. Soper for permit to build a a-ara�e on part of lot 3 Block 152 Harford Addition , fronting High Street, the same to be placed about 30 feet from property line and annexed to residence , was denied on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek. On motion of C.I:I.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox the application of Foster & eiser Co., for permit to erect a bill board on lots 11 -12 -25 Block 3 I,Ic Bride Tract, oad Street between Santa Barbara Avenue and high Street, was granted. In re application_ of B.C.Bell for Sewer accommodation on Carmel Street bet::reenl h and Higuera Street ; City 'E'ngineer reported on same, Discussion. It was ved by H.E.Cox and seconded by John Chapek that 150 ft ., more or less , of 6" sewer pipe be laid on Carmel Street to connect with main line sewer on 11arsh Street. That the work oe done under the direction of the City Engineer. The motion carried. Ir_ re application of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to Lay undergriund conduit on Morro Street between I.,iarsh and Palm Street : Discussion. It was moved by Chas Forbes and seconded by C.I.I.Carpenter that the application be granted, r I.F.Sinsheimer called Commissioner Chas Forbes to preside and moved the following _. amendment -- That the application be granted with the provision that the work be done cording to specifications of the Railrbad"Conjmission , and in the event no word is receive rom the Railroad Commission within Uirty days , that the work proceed under plans and pecifications filed by the Telephone Compan;,7. The amendment was seconded by ohn Chapek and carried. On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by C.I:I.Caruer_ter the Commissioner of Supplies authorized to enter into a -rental basis contract with the Austin 1.- ;estern Road Machinery ompany for the purchase of an Street grader, of the Special ;= ora Type with 8ft blade, eight 3475 T at a quoted price of 600.00. It was -moved by John Chapek and seconded by C.E.Carpenter that the City enter nto a contract with the John h7ansville Co.,.for roofing the City Hall Building with an isbestos roof, at a cost of 'D 297.00.
