City Council met in adjourned session - Vice President of the Council

Application of Frank V. Serpa for permit to build a two stall ger age on part
Lot 6 Block 9 at a Cost of $ 200.00 was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for
vestigation and report on motion of John Chapek seconded by C.M.Carpenter.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the application of Manuel Lucas
or permit to build a residence in Phillips and Beebees Addition at a cost of $ 800.00 was
anted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek.
On motion of C.E.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox , Rodney V. Johnson was
permitted to make certain alterations to building in Block 10 at a cost of $ 2,000.00 .
Application of F.T.Takumi for permit to build an addition to building in
Block 15 was received and referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for
investigation and report on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek.
The Merchandising Bonds of A.V.Riggins and J.4J.Darden, Surety 19.R.Beattie,
and of F.17,Keller, Surety L.J.Defosset, were approved and the Sureties accepted.
Petition of L.M.14Ic Manus for permit to install a street clock on curb line of
sidewalk in front of San Luis Jewelry Cos store at 865 I:Ionterey Street was received, and on
motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the petition was referred to the Commissioner of
Public Health and Safety for report.
The petition of C.H.Reed Co for permit to remove an electric sign from 960
Monterey Street to 857 lJon.terey Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health
and Safety for report to the Council, on motion of John Chapek seconded by H.E.Cox.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the applications of A.Bolla for
license for Billiards and Pool, Soft Drinks and Cigars Sideline at 890 Monterey Street were
referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report.
Petition of J.R.Robasciotti for transfer of license for Soft Drinks and Ci
Sideline at 875 Ivionterey Street to Joe I:Ioranda and R.Reeves was received and referred to t
Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report on motion of H.E.Cox
seconded by John Chapek.

Petition was received from the Western Union Telegraph Dompany for permit to
change position of a certain pole on I;Iorro Street near U.S.Post - Office building.
Discussion On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by C.bl.Carpenter the,petition was granted_
with the provision that the work be done under the supervision of the Commissioner of
Public Works.
The application of A.T.Brazil for permit to install sewer connection on Buchon
Street between Osos and Morro Street was granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John-Chap
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by C.I:I.Carpeater the report of the Puund blaster
for the month of April was received and ordered filed.
Upon favorable report and motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by H.B.Cott- the
petition of H.1Yinter for transfer of license for Hotel St James. Lodging House to
Margaret Davis was granted.
Upon favorable report and motion of C.M.C.arpenter seconded by John Chapek the
petition of VI.B.I:loses for permit to hang a sheet metal sign ( 3 ft by 28 inches ) at 1023
Morro Street was granted, with the provision that the said sign be removed at the pleasure
of the Council
Applications of the I:idland Counties Public Service Corporation - 115 and # 116
for permit to'do certain work as set forth in the said applications were granted on motion
of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek.
On motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox the following licenses were
ordered cancelled :

On favoralbe report and motion of C.LI.Carpenter seconded by John Chapek the
applications of frank Mariotta for license for Restaurant, Cigars Sideline and Soft Drinks
at 879 Monterey Street were granted.
The proposition of reducing the width of Itlill Street between curbs from 40 to
30 feet; before paving same, and thus leaving a parkway of about 5 ft on each side of the
street, having come before the City Council, the City Clerk was directed, on motion of
H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek , to notify all property owners on Ilill Street between
Osos Street and Ida Street to appear at a meeting of the City `'ouncil to be held on I:Ionday,
May 17th at eight o'clock P.kT., to express their opinion for or against such change.
On motion of John Chapek seconded by H.E.Cox the meeting adjourned.
