City Hall, Monday, August 9th 1926 - 7 :30 P.M.
City Council met in adjourned session - Vice President of the Council
Chas Forbes presiding.
Present : C.M.Carpenter, H.E.Cox.,Chas Forbes.
Absent : John Chapek, Eayor."L.F.Sinsheimer.
The following applications for permit to build were received and granted on
motion of H.E.Cox seconded by C.M.Carpenters

Application received from 1 "l.H.Westendorf for.permit to lay 42 feet of 6 ft
park sidewalk on the south side of Palm.Street between Santa Rosa and Toro.Street.
Discussion . On motion of C.LI.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox it was ordered that the
permit be granted with the recommendation that the Commissioner of Public 4 -iorks consult
property owners in the block to determine width of sidewalk,
applications of Mrs. I:4eta Hansen for licenses for Mulch Counter and Soft
at 686 Higuera street v...-ere referred to the Commissioner of.Public Health and Safety for
report on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by C.M.Carpenter,
The -reports of the City Treasurer for the month of July and of the Pound Laster
for the months of June and July were received and ordered filed on motion of H. .Cox_
seconded by C.1-1.0arpenter.
Applications of 1.1.C.Hathway and C.R.11ayiiall for appointment as Chief of. Police
were received and read , and on motion of E.E.Cox seconded by C.I.I. Carpenter were ordered
placed on file.
City Engineer L.W.Ieloore submitted the following summary of bids received August
2d 1926 for the improvement of portions of I:Iill Street,Santa Hosa Street, Peach Street and
Toro Street in the City of San Luis Obispo:

It appearing that the Bid of the Southwest Paving C ®Mpany was the lowest and
best Bid of all Bids received : Resolution ISO. 203 ( Dew Series ) A Resolution Awarding
the contract for the work described in Resolution of Intention No. 199 ( Ilew Series ), to
the Southwest Paving Company, at the prices named in its Bid, i-,ias introduced and adopted
on motion of C.I:i.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox by the following vote:

This being the time and place fixed for hearing protests in re assessment for
the improvement of prrtions of Beebee, High, Balker, Pismo and Hiouera Streets, as describe
in Resolution_ of Intention uo. 185 ( !ew Series ) the City Clerk advised the Council that
no written protests had been received. resolution Teo. 204 ( New Series ) a Resolution
approving the assessment for the Improvement of portions of Beebee, Hiooh, :Hslker, Pismo
and Higuera Streets in the City of San Luis Obiso wars then introduced and adopted as read
on motion of H.E,.Co4 seconded by C.PI.Carpenter.by the following vote:
Ayes : C.1-I.Carpenter, H.E.Cox, Chas Forbes.
Noes : 17 one
Absent : John Chapek, I,.F.Sinsheimer.
In re repairs to creek wall on D211a Street : City Engineer submitted m4:: _
shoving location, etc. Discussion. I:?atter deferred one week. In the mean time
'he Commissioner of Public 1,7orks and City --Engineer to interview property omiers to aecertai:
whether property owners would contribute toward expense incurred.
