On favorable report and motion of C.Id.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes ,
'lex Miller and D.'Zontos, 856 Ivionterey Street, and the Gold Dragon, 1122 Idorro 6treet,
were granted licenses for Restaurant and Cigars Sideline respectively.
There was discussion relative to soliciting for Hotels, the matter of Traffic
control, lights for Ut. Pleasanton Square, the improvement of tipper.Idonterey Street and
Lower Higuera Street and the i:ionterey Street Storm Drain, but no action taken.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the meeting adjourned to Monday
May 9th at 7:30 P.M.

The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of
H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek

The following applications for license were referred to the Commissioner of
Public Health and Safety for report on motion of H.E.Cox. seconded by John Chapek:
Alex I;Iiller - Soft Drinks and Cigars Sideline. 856 i:ionteroy Street; A.H.Hline Shows, by
G.F.Harris , license for Carnival , Ilay 23d to 28th.
Application of'the L7idland Counties Public Service Corporation No. 128 for permi,
to replace a pole on Pacific Street between Beach and Carmel Street was granted on motion of
H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek.
Permits to connect with the City Sewer were granted as follows:
Joseph T Silva - Ripomo Street between Higuera Street and I:Ionterey Street.
C.i:.Carpenter - Palm Street between Essex Street said Johnson Street.
K. Thorne - ti;oodbridge Street between Broad Street and Lawton Avenue.
On motion duly seconded and.carried communication from :m V.Idiendenhall ,.Forest
Supervisor, was ordered filed.
City Engineer reported favorable on I:Iap of the resubdivision of Block 12 of
Phillips Syndicate Addition, presented by Mr Slusher. Matter left over until all
members of the Council were present.
On motion of H..--.Coy seconded by John Chapek the City Engineer was authorized
to dig a temporary ditch &n connection with the proposed change of a certain water course
