City Hall,.Monday, November 21st. 1927 - 7 :30 P.M.
City Council met in regular session - Vice President of the Council Chas Forbes
presiding.
Present : Chas Forbes, L.J.Defoseet, H.E.Cox.
Absent : John Chapek, Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer.
The minutes of November 7th and 14th were read and approved as read on motion of
L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the following applications for
permit to build were granted
A.D.Einsman - Residence and Garage Block 1 Hathway Addition Cost 39000900-
Martha Srengler - Repairs St James Hotel Bldg Block 13 Cost 19600.00
Application of C.L.Slusher for permit to connect with the City Sewer on Johnson
Avenue between Upham Street and Spring Street was granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by
L.J.Defosset.
The Merchandise Bond of A.J.Victorino , Sureties Joseph C.Reis and Chas G Eckardt
was received, and on motion of H.E. Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the Bond was approved and
the Suretied accepted.
The report of the Pound Master fortthe month of October was received and ordered
filed on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox.
The petition of Chris Anholm for permit to build a Bridge on Mountain View Street
between north Broad Street and Chorro Street' Anholm Addition was received and referred to
the City Engineer for checking and report, on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset.
Based upon the adverse opinion of O'Melveny, Milliken & Tuller, Attorneys for the
First Securities Company, as to the legality of the $ 25,000.00 Bond Issue recently purchased
by them,and the consequent refusal by them to accept the Bonds,the said First Securities
Company requested the return of Certified Check in the amount of 6 800.00 which accompanied
their Bid. The request was granted on notion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the claims of M.J.Bevanda,aggregat
the amount of 1,993.83 for paving in front of City Property, for the Palm Street (Joint)
Paving project, were ordered paid from the General Fund.
Application of S.E.Hogue for license for lodging house at 103 Santa Barbara Ave.,
was granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox.
Communication of the Pacifid Telephone and Telegraph Company in re re- construction
of Poles was again laid over.
Ordinance No. 124 (New Series) An Ordinance amending Section 24 of Ordinance
No, 122 (New Series) was finally passed on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox by the
following vote:
Ayes : Chas Forbes, L.J.Defosset, H.E.Cox.
Noes : None.
Absent : John Chapek, L.F.Sinsheimer.
On motion of
