On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the following applications for permit
o lay sidewalk and curbing were granted with the provision that the said sidewalks conform to
other walks in block

and Pismo Street,
Violet J.Ilaylor -- 100 ft 5 ft park sidewalk and curbing on the west side Chorro Street between
High Street Wid Broad Street.

High Street and Broad Street.

On notion of H.E.Cox seconded by-John Chapek the application of C.D.Stowe for permi
to connect Beachwood Service Station at the junction of Higuera and French Streets with Sewer
was granted with the provision that the said connection be made on French Street.

The petition of the American Legion Auxiliary for permit to sell " Flanders" Poppie
' on the Streets of the City on Tuesday May 29th was granted on motion of Chas iorbes seconded by
;$JE.Cox.
The petitions of Burns &: Burns for permit to hang a metal sign at the corner of
Lorro and Higuera Streets, and of Cline's Electric Shop for permit-to hang an Electric Sign for
' E.E.Long Piano Company at the comber of Isarsh and Garden Streets, were referred to the Commissilnex
of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.iox.
On notion of L.J.Defosset seconded by Chas Forbes the request of Ah Louis for permit
ito sell Fire crackers and Fire Works during the period of June 27th to July 4th inclusive,
^vas granted with provisions.
The petition of Chas E. Foxen for transfer of license for I +ierchandise at 787
�Higuera Street to Christine E Hoerntlein, was granted on motion of ?..J.Defosset seconded by
!Chas Forbes.

The applications of Mary ' ;Vhite for license for Phrenology at 892 Monterey Street,
and that of the I.D.E.S Hall Association for license for Soft Drinks at I.D.E.S. Hall , I•,Iay
27th. 28th. and 29th., were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for rep
to the Council on motion of Chas.Forbes seconded by H.3,Cox.
The Ilerchandising Bond of Mary A. O'Reily , Surety 17m.C.O'Donnell, was received
and on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by L.J.Defosset the same was approved and the surety
accepted.
The reports of-Lhe City Clerk and the City Treasurer for the mohth of April were-rec
and ordered filed on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by John Chapek.
The petition of George Anholm for permit to construct a Bridge on I,iission Street
between Broad Street and Chorro Street , in the Anholm Addition, was granted on motion of
John Chapek seconded by H.E.Cox , with the provision that the work b6 done under the supervisi
of the City Engineer.
Letter of transmittal in s,the amount of $ 200.00 for cooperative payment for fire
guard, received from I.Vm.V.Mendenhall, Forest Supervisor. Discussion. Clerk directed to
acknowledge receipt of same and request detailed statement.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by Chss Forbes , sewers constructed on Chorro Street
and Lincoln Street an the Anholm addition, were accepted in accordance with the report of the
City Engineer. Report ordered filed.
George Anholm appeared relative to water service for Anholm Addition. Discussion.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the matter was.referred to the City .Engineer for
report as to costs etc.
This being the time and place fixed for hearing of protests in the matter of the
improvement of Lower Higuera Street, in accordance with Resolution of Intention Ito. 241 (I1.S.)9
the following is a list of Protestants: I,iary Ferguson; Chas Walterhouse, whose protest was
enied on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by E.E.Cor. E.S.Hamilton; L.C.Bell ; F.A.Dorn
nd J Rusca. Latter discussed and on motion of John Chapek seconded by Chas Forbes the
onsideration of assessments was continued to June 4th at 7:30 o'clock P.I1, i:iotion carried.
On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by John Chapek the petition of J.F.Faulstich et
rotesting the widening of tipper Monterey Street was ordered filed with other matters
ppertaining to Upper I.ionterey Street. Improvement.
On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by Chas Forbes the application of F.T.Takumi
or license for-Soft Drinks at 866 Palm Street was granted.
On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by Chas Forbes the applications of I:irs. T.Uru
or permit to hang an electric Sign at 156 Higuer a Street , and of Chris I1. Kunkle for wooden
ign at 863 I:ionterey Street were granted.
Petition of Jack Barneberg for permit to place a bard sign at the Quality Super
ervice Station was continued.
On motion of L.J.Def osset seconded by Chas Forbes the following licenses were or&ere
ancelled in accordance with report of the Chief of Polices

It was moved by L.J.Defosset and seconded by John Chapek that the arrangement whereb3
