Hall Association for license for Soft Drinks was granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Coz, The applications of Clines Electric Shop for permit to hang an Electric Sign for E.E.Long Piano Company at corner of Earsh and Garden Streets, and the application of Burns and Burns for metal sign at corner of Higuera and Lorro Street, were granted with the usual provisions, on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by John Chapek. Application of Jack Barneberg for permit to hang a board sign at Quality Super Service Station corner of Higuera and Vipomo.Streets, %ras continued. It was moved by John Chapek and seconded by H.E.0 that the communication be received and placed on file, to be taken up at the pleasure of the Council. On favorable verbal report of the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety,it was moved by H.E.Cox and seconded by John Chapek that the application of Mary White for license for Phrenology at 892 Monterey Street be granted. The motion carried. The application of B.F.Patnoe of the Mission Rubber Company for permit to make certain improvements at his place of business, as per application on file, was granted on moti of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek, with the provision that the work be done under the super- sion of the City Engineer. The applications of J.P.Poulsen and Jack Barneberg for permit to place signs at thei respective places of business were again laid over, without motion. J.J.Ax1dre appeared before the Council in re error in assessment against his property in Block 61 , on the Palm Street (Joint ) Improvement project. Matter discussed and the City Clerk directed to write Mr..Bavenda, the contractor, relative to the matter. The matter of the assessment and Diagram of Lower Higuera Street Improvement and the appeals heretofore filed with the Council were taken up. L.C.Bell withdrew his protest. City Engineer expalined how and why certain assessments had been revised. Latter discussed. L.Ryder , the contractor, was requested, and agreed to furnish the Council with °a written eement to the effect that he would repair all defective work. Resolution No. 254 ( New Series ) , A Resolution amending the Assessment to be issues o cover the sum due for the work performed pursuant to Resolution of Intention Pdo. 241 ( New eries ) and ordering !'arrant, was introduced and adopted , on motion of H.E.Cox seconded.by ohn Chapek by the following vote: yes : H.E.Cox, John Chapek, L.F.Sinsheimer. oes : Idone, ibsent : Chas Forbes, L.J.Defosset. Councilman Chas Forbes occupies his chair. Coisnissioner of Supplies John Chapek made report on matter of the purchase of a Motor Dump Truck. Discussion. It was moved by H.E.Cox and seconded by Chas Porbes that the Commissioner of Supplies be authorized to purchase a Ford Dump Truck at a cost of x 983.50, in accordance with his report.
