Present : Chas Forbes, L.J.Defosset, H.E.Cox, John Chapek, L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent : None. The minutes of Iov. 5th and 13th were read and approved as read on-motion of. Chas Forbes seconded by L.J.Defosset. The application of John n. Vail for license for Cigars Sideline and Soft Drinks at 1017 Chorro Street were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox. The application of the Golden State Eilk Products Company for permit to connect with Sewer on Lower Higuera Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public ''forks for report to the CouncilIon motion of John Chapek seconded by Chas Forbes. On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by John Chapek the application of t13 Santa Maria Gas Company for permit to cut pavement on L'onterey Street between Osos Street and 11orro Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report. In a communication the Shell Oil Company requested permit to take up sidewalk and driveway on Santa Rosa Street, as Shell Service Station, and to put in concrete retaining wall, and replace sidewalk and driveway at proper grade. The request was granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek with the provision that the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. A petition was received from the Standard Oil Company requesting permit to install a thirty gallon steel Tank for the storage of Kerosene, in Service Station at Monterey and Santa Rosa Streets. On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox the petition was ref to the Commissioner of Public health and Safety for report to the Council. The petition of S.G.Cline for permit to stretch a canvas Banner across Higuera Street from the Valley Electric Co to Sandercock Transfer Company's Building, advertising I.O.O.F. Benefit Dance at the Iffinter Garden, December 15th. was referred, on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by Chas Forbes, to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council, as was also, the petition of Dick & Dunne for permit to stretch a canvas banner, 50' x 3' , across Honterey Street at Essex Street, advertising the new Six Chevrolet. The petition of Rex Iy. Fuller for transfer of license for Mdse (Ideat) at 176 Pismo Street to A.D.Edgmon was granted on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by L.J.Defosset. The report of the City Treasurer and Pound blaster for the month of October were received and ordered filed on motion of Chas Dorbes seconded by L.J.Defosset. idr J.J.Andre again appeared relative to a Street Improvement assessment. A11,lap of Hollywood Subdivision Unit -# 1 was presented by W.B.3ureh . The matter was laid over to the next meeting. The application of Ross H. isann for license for Lunch Counter at 855 I:Ionterey Street was granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by Chas Forbes. Applications of I:idland Counties Public Service Corporation ilos. 153 & 154 forgo permit to do certain work, as set forth in application on file, were granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by Chas Forbes. The petitions of Dr L.J.Nielsen and the Typewriter Shop ( H.J.Nelson ) for permit to hang signs at 1021 Llorro Street and at 1018 Court Street, respectively, were granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by Chas Forbes, with the usual reservations. 1 1 7 1
