All Bids were accompanied by'-certified checks or bonds in the required amounts.
On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek it was ordered that the report of the
Engineer be--c-received and that the contract be e:-rarded to the Granite Construction Co. in
accordance with the prices named in its bid and upon the satisfactory execution-of the
necessary preliminaries.
Resolution No. 278 (stew Series) A Resolution of the Council of the City of San
Luis Obispo awarding the contract for t:e work described in Resolution of Intention No. 265
(new Series) of said City Council was introduced and adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Chas. Forbes,'L. J. Defosset, H. E. Cox, John Chapek, L'. F. Sinsheimer.
Noes: .None.
Absent: None.
On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by Chas. Forbes the certified checks and bonds which
accompanied the bids of.the unsuccessful bidders were ordered returned.
On motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by H. E. Cox.the meeting adjourned.

The application of C::..H. Kamm for permit to lay 150 feet of 5 ft. park - sidewalk
and curbing on the east side of Santa Rosa Street between Olive and Fig Streets was granted
on motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek.
Application of V. C. Brisco for license for Cigar Sideline and Soft Drinks at
Service Station Corner Marsh and Higuera Streets was referred to the Commissioner of Public
Health and Saiety- for report to the Council on motion of Charles Forbes seconded by H. E. Cox.
The petition of A. D. Edgmon for transfer of license for merchandise (Cured Leats,
Cheese, etc.) to C. -G. Sigsbee wab granted.on motion of L. J. Defosset.seconded by Chas. Forbes
The petition of Clifton T. Price for permit to connect with the sewer on Lawrence
Drive between Broad Street and Chandler Street granted on motion of H. E. Cox seconded by
L. J. Defosset.
On motion of Charles Forbes seconded by H.'E. Cox the petition of J. B. Landreth
for permit to place IrIetal Sign Board,.10 x 121, on vacant lot at Monterey and Ida Streets
z as referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council.

The petition of the Coca -Cola Bottling Company for permit to install a 120 gallon
gasoline storage tank together with pump on premises on 969 Islay.Street was referred to the
Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on motion of Chas. Forbes
seconded by H. E. Cox.
A petition was received from the Kiwanis Club of San Luis Obispo relative to the
matter of proposed community picnic grounds at Reservoir Canyon: I,Iatter discussed and
on motion of L. J. Defosset.seconded by John Chapek the petition was granted with the pro-
vision that the site selected and the matter of the supervision of grounds be under the
supervision of the City Authoritie.s..
This being the date fixed by the Council, in accordance with published notice,
for receiving bids for the improvement of Upper I:Ionterey Street by paving in accordance with
Resolution of Intention No. 270 (New Series)., the following is a list of all bids received sees
which were publicly opened, examined, and declared. On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by
John Chapek all bids received were referred to the City Engineer for calculations and ex-
tensions. A summary of bids follows:
