Defosset seconded by Charles Forbes the following petitions were granted with the understanding that the installation of same be done under the super- vision of the City Engineer and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the national Board of Fire Underwriters, and with the further provision that same be removed at the pleasure of the Council: Merrifield Music Company - Petition to install a 120 gallon gasoline storage tank at 786 Higuera Street. 4, L. Nichols - A petition to install an underground gasoline storage tank of 109000 gallon capacity at 311 Higuera Street, B1 Camino Service Station: Martin & Kustel - A petition to install 1 -5500 gallon underground gasoline storage tank at Service Station, Corner Marsh and Osos Streets. Martin & Kustel A petition to install 1 -5500 gallon underground gasoline storage tank at Quality Super Service Station at Corner of Higuera and ilipomo Streets. On motion of H. 3. Cox seconded by Charles Forbes the Santa Liaria Gas Company was granted permit to cut pavement at the following named locations with the provision that the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer: On Marsh Street between Chorro Street and Garden Street. At the intersection of Monterey and Chorro Streets. On Monterey Street at the intersection of i3onterey and Liorro Streets. On motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by H. E. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek: C. L: Slusher - residence and garage Lot 22 Loma Vista Addn Cost $ 49000.00 James B. O'Donnell - Addn to residence Lot 10 Brizzolara Addn Cost 200.( Charles Stormi - Double Garage Pt Lot 1 Block 43• Cost 250.( 1� Miles Iaiathews was granted permit to build a shed to house cars at Lot 1 Block 147 _ Harford Addition with the provision that the building does not encroach on city sewer right- of-way, and that the same be built under the supervision of the City Engineer. The application of William Ortez for permit to lay 40 feet of full width sidewalk and curbing on the south side of Hill Street between Chorro and Yorro Streets �:,as granted on motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek. The petition of Joe Yoranda for permit to hang a vertical electric sign at 875 I'_'onterey Street (Obispo Cafe) was referred, on *lotion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek, to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council. The applications of ',7illiam Ortez and of John '.. 'i'homson for sewer connections on Mill Street between Chorro Street and 1dorro Street..,-.and on San Miguel Avenue between Buena 'vista Avenue and Santa Ynez Street, respectively, were granted on motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek. The application of Nicholas Hirsch for sewer connection on George Street between Ruth Street and Johnson Street was left over to the next meeting for report by the City Engineer. A communication was received from Anholm Bros relative to the completion of the sewer recently laid in Anholm addition. Matter discussed. On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek the City Engineer was instructed to furnish the Council with a written report relative to the said sewer. The petition of J. B. Landreth for permit to place a sign board on H. D. Faulstich's' property Block 46 was withdrawn. On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek the applications of V. C. Brisco for licenses for Cigar Sideline and Soft Drinks-at Service Station, Marsh and Higuera Streets were granted. On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek the application of the Coca -Cola Bottling Ilorks for permit to install a gasoline storage tank and pump at 969 Islay Street was laid over to give parties opportunity to withdraw application. The matter of the further consideration of bids submitted April 15th., 1929, for the improvement of Upper Monterey Street by paving,.was deferred to I:ionday, April 29, 1929, at 7 :30 P. M., on motion of John Chapek seconded by H. E. Cox. L. H. Gibson of the California State Highway Commission appeared before the Council relative to the matter of changing location of a eater pipe line just outside the city limits on the North highway. Matter discussed and on motion of John Chapek seconded by H. E. Cog was referred to the Mayor with power to act. In re Bonds of Granite Construction Company for contract for work described in Resolution of Intention No. 265 (New Series),.Monterey Street.Storm Drain. On motion of H. E..Cox seconded by Chas. Forbes the matter was referred to the City Attorney to take up with I•dayor L. F. Sinsheimer. On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek the meeting adjourned to wlonday, April 29th., 1929 at 7:30 P. M. Ayes: Charles Forbes, H. E. Cox, John Chapek. Noes: None. Absent; Mayor L. F. Sinsheimer, L. J. Defosset.
