Defosset, H. E. Cox, John Chapek, L. F. Sinsheimer. Absent: None. The following applications for permit to build ivere granted on motion of H. N. Cog seconded by John Chapek: Dr. C. J. Teass - Residence, offices, & garage Block 25 C. L. Slusher - Residence & garage lot 17 Loma Vista Addition Julia B. Rude —Cabin lot 8 Block 7 Southside addition I:iyra W. bloods - Addition of room Block 93 John Funk - Addition to building lot 14 Block 137 Phillips Addn Cost 18,000.00 Cost 4,000.00 Cost 100.00 Cost 400.00 Cost 350.00 The following applications for sidewalk and curbing were granted on motion of H. E. seconded by L. J. Defosset: E. 67. & Gusta Y. Soper - 196 feet of 5 ft. park sidewalk, curbing and gutter on the East side Broad Street between Upham Street and Chorro Street. Carlo Borlandelli 50 feet of 5 ft. park sidewalk on the ,;pest side of Broad Street betwee Church and Upham Streets. Natale Hainini - 50 feet of 5 ft. park sidewalk, curbing and gutter on the Fast side Broad Street between Leff Street and Church Street. The merchandising bond of Jerry 0. Cole, Surety, G. A. Tilton, Junior, in the amount of $200.00, also of the Santa Barbara Tobacco Company secured by certified check in the amount of $200.00 were approved and the surety accepted on motion of Charles Forbes seconded by L. J. Defosset. The reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the ,nonth of April were receiv and ordered filed on motion of Chas. Forbes seconded by H. E. Cox. A communication from H. C. Taylor, President San Luis Obispo I:iinisterial Union to- gether with _'. esolution was received. The City Clerk was directed to acknowledge receipt of the letter and resolution, advising that same mould have due consideration by the Council. In re matter of the responsibility of the Santa Maria Construction Company, low bidder on the Upper Monterey Street paving project: I:Iayor Sinsheimer read a communication from Frank C. Jordan, Secretary of State of the State of California, in which it was stated that the Santa I, ?aria Construction Company was not a legally organized corporation during the period March 5th, 1927 to April 30th, 1929. The petition of 2. A. l'lalton relative to the improvement of Howard Street was laid over until other petitions are filed. The petition of Guy N. Baldwin for permit to attach a Neon Electric Sign to telephone hole in front of Baldwin Service Station at 406 Higuera Street was granted, on motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by Charles Forbes, with the provision that the said sign be hung on the side: ^,alk side of said telephone pole. In re petition of E. 'l. Lawrence et. al. for opening Lentucky Street by grade cross- ing over the Southern Pacific _'ailroad tracks City Engineer presented map of said location together with estimated cost. 'Hatter discussed. City Clerk directed to communicate with the Southern Pacific Company* requesting their ideas in the matter. In the matter of applications of Santa Maria Gas Company for permit to lay an 8" gas main on streets set forth in application on file, also to break pavement on Buchon and .Osos Streets for an 8" gas main: Iiatter laid over until certain data requested by the City be furnished by the said Santa Maria Gas Company.
