Cos, John Chapek, L. F. Sinsheimer. Absent : Chas. Forbes. The minutes of March 16th, 23rd, 27th and 30th were read and approved as read on motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by H. E. Cox. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of H. B. Cox seconded by John Chapek: J. H. Uakaji for licenses for Billiards and Pool and Soft Drinks at 866 Palm Street were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on motion duly seconded and carried. On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek the following applications for permit to connect with City Seiler were granted: Norman Sandercock, Islay Street between IIipomo Street and Beach Street - Stub Sev:Ter B. J. Bowles, Islay Street between Ilipomo Street and Beach Street - " Estate of J. H. Henry, Islay Street between Beach Street and Carmel St.- " H. C. 1?insman, Sewer Connection, Fixilini Street between Lizzie Street and Upham Street The reports of the City Clerk and the City Treasurer for. the month of February and those of the City Collector and Police Judge for the month of march were received and ordered filed on motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by H. E. Cox. Claims against the City for the month of March were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the Heads of the respective departments on motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by John Chapek. Communication from Eva blenard was received, read and ordered filed. Communication received from the American Legion Post No. 66, relative to permit to erect a "Safety First" sign at each entrance to the City of San Luis Obispo. On motion of John Chapek seconded by H. L. Cox the matter was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council. Communication received from J. F. Sobeck, Executive Secretary of San Luis Obispo Coun Builders* Exchange, extending an invitation to the Council to attend a dinner, Friday evening, ril 10th, at Mulholland's Grill. Acceptance left to individual members of the Council. z The City Clerk was directed to notify Contractors and others delinquent for licenses to appear before the Council, Llonday, April 13th, 1931, and show cause why their said licenses should not be paid. 0C '4J f_j (_/ The matter of compensation for Election Officers for the General TW7unicipal Ele etion held on the 6th day of April, 1931, was taken up. ..Discussion. It was moved by H. E. Cox and seconded by L. J. Defosset and carried that Ellection Officers serving within the City of San Luis Obispo be compensated for their services in the amount of Ten ($10.00) Dollars each. That Election Officers serving outside the City in the School Precincts be compensated in the amount of Six ($6.00) Dollars each for services rendered. In re-Rental-of Precinct Polling Flaces: It was moved by H. E. Cox seconded by L. J. Defosset that Ten (k10.00) Dollars be allowed as rental for each Polling Place within the City of San Luis Obispo and that rive ($5.00) Dollars be allowed for the Palling Places outside the City of San Luis Obispo. The City Clerk was authorized to draw warrants in accordanc-e with the above. The matter of consideration of Bids received on ':-;arch 23rd, 1931, for Sewer Pipe was ow taken up. It was moved by John Chapek seconded by H. Be Cox that all Bids received be rejected and that the Certified Checks accompanying said Bids be returned to the respective Bidders. The motion carried. The application of Frances Garage (F.I:T. Sakata) for permit to install a pump and tank for the storage and sale of gasoline at 120 Higuera Street was granted with the provision that installation be made under the supervision of the City Engineer. The petition of C. D. Stowe for permit to install two 10,000 gallon gasoline storage tanks under sidewalk area at French Street and Higuera Street was referred to the Commissioner Of -0 Public Health and Safety for further investigation and report to the Council. On motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by John Chapek the following applications for Licenses were granted: P. Christiansen - Soft Drinks, Cigars Sideline & Billiards and Pool at 1006 Railroad Avenue. Joe Duehi - Lodging House at 964 Chorro Street. Mrs. Frank C. Richardson- Lunch Counter, 1122 Morro Street. II. A. McFarlane - Auctioneer, 1:044 Monterey Street °im. H. Richmond - Taxicab, 856 Monterey Street . L. E. Oldham - Cigars Sideline, 911 Branch Street. I1aryln Jeane Hamilton - Astrology, Civic Auditorium The petition of E. E. Burriss for permit to install one 10,000 gallon gasoline storage tank at Service Station corner Garden Street and Marsh Street vies referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for further investigation and report to the Council on motion of . E. Cox seconded by John Chapek. Petition of E. LI. Payne for permit to cut pavement on Higuera - .Street between horro Street and Garden Street for the purpose of making sewer connection for John Norton Bu was again laid over. Application of Foster & Eleiser Company for permit to erect a two panel sign -board on rt of lot 8 and 9, Block 104, Iilission Vineyard Tract, south side of Higuera Street between orro Street and Osos Street, was granted on motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by John Chapek. Petition of S. E. Hogue for permit to hang a Wooden Sign at 1026 I:iorro Street was ranted on notion of L. J, Defosset seconded by H. E. Cox. Petition of Valley Electric Company for permit to erect a Neon Electric Sign an the roof of the building occupied by E. L. O'Reilly's Service Station was granted on motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by John Chapek with the provision that the installation of said sign be under the supervision of the City Engineer. Application of Cline's Electric Shop for permit to install a sign at the Pioneer Marke- was again laid over. 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 299 The communication of Dr. H. A. Gallup relative to parking space for private cars of the icians of the City of San Luis Obispo was again laid over for further consideration. In re application Midland Counties Public Service Corporation No. 191: It was moved H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek that the said Company be requested to present blue prints of contemplated work. The motion carried. In re application of H. C. Knight for permit to lay fifty feet of three foot park side-, and curbing in !Torton Addition: The matter was referred to the Commissioner of Public for further discussion with the applicant and report to the Council.
