City Council met in adjourned session - Vice President of-the Council John Chapek
presiding.
Present J.B.Berkemeyer, John Chapek, H.E.Cox, L.J.Defosset.
Absent : Mayor L. F. Sinsheimer.
The application of Dr.L.J.Nielsen for permit.to build a residence on Lot 12 Loma
Vista Addition at a cost of $4,800.00 was granted, on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by
J.B.Berkemeyer, with the provision that the Contractor, E.L.Fauset, take a license for
Contracting,
The application of I:Irs. (Paiarola) Pavia for permit to raze building at corner of
P,forro and I.Ionterey Street, Block 13, was granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berk-
emeyer, with the provision that the license of the Contracting Firm, Davis,Thomas and Machado
be collected as soon as possible.
application of Tie Chong, for license for Cigar Store at 834 palm Street was
referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on motion
of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer.
On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the petition of G.Yoshida for
permit to move Lunch Counter Wagon from corner of Marsh and Osos Streets to Lot 8 Block 147
Harford Addition was granted.
The petition of J. A. Carroll for permit to transfer license for bunch Counter, at
Osos and Idarsh Street to G.Yoshida, granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by
J.B.Berkemeyer.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the application of H.J.Dubin for
I
permit to connect with City Sewer on South Street between Higuera Street and Eto Street was
granted.
Applications of the I,Iidland Counties Public Service Corporation ;200 and 4"201 for
permit to do certain work, as set out in applications on file, were referred to the
Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report to the Council on motion of
L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer.
The report of the City Treasurer for the month of January 1932, was received and
ordered filed on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox.
Applications of the Union Oil Company for permit to install one 2,000 gallon
gasoline storage tanks at Service Stations at Higuera and Nipomo Streets and at Monterey and
Essex Streets respectively, were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for
report to the Council on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer.
Applications of the Shell Oil Company for permit to install one 1,000 gallon
storage tank and one pump at Service Station at South and Higuera Street; one 1,000 gallon

storage tank and pump at Service Station Higuera and Nipomo Streets and one 1,000 gallon
storage tank and pump at Service Station at Monterey and Toro Streets, were referred to the
Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on motion of H.E.Cox
seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer.
Ordinance No. 163 (New Series) An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 122 (New
Series) by adding thereto three new Sections to be numbered Section 3.1, Section 4.1, and
Section 4.2, was finally passed on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox by the
following vote :
Ayes : J.B.Berkemeyer, John Chapek, H.E.Cox, L.J.Defosset.
Noes : None.
Absent : L. F. Sinsheimer.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the application of Irene Malin for
permit to break pavement on Broad Street between Higuera and Marsh Street for purpose of
lowering Sewer connection was granted.
Application of Helen Sousa for license for Lunch Counter at 848 Higuera Street
granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H•.E.Cox.
The following applications of the Midland Counties public Service Corporation were
granted, on favorable report and motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer
between
7197 - Replace pole and resting isjire on Buchon Street/ Osos Street and Santa Rosa Street.
V198 - Build 450 feet primary line on Grove Street between Murray Street and Minor Street.
f199 - Install 50 feet curb and gutter and 20 feet driveway and sidewalk on Walker Street
between Higuera Street and Pismo Street,
on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox the following applications for permit
to hang signs were granted with the provision that said signs be hung in accordance with
Ordinance and under the supervision of the City Engineer
Valley Electric Co. - neon Sign - Granada Sandwich Shop - 1122 Morro Street.
Cline's Electric Shop - Neon Sign - Barker Bakery - 974 Monterey Street.
Cline's Electric Shop - Ideon Sign - I:Iotto -Ros Taxi - 1038 Chorro Street.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the application of Mrs. 'la. H. I:Iills fo
permit to lay 70 feet of curbing on the South side of High Street between Cypress Street and
Beebee Street was laid on the table, to be taken up when Street Grades-.are established.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the petition of the Salvation Army
for permit to operate Shelter for unemployed at 868 palm Street was laid on the table for
future consideration.
In re peteition of Harry McDonald for (H.H.Carpenter Estate) for compromise on
delinquent Tax against Lots 70 8 and 9 Block "F" Idaymont Addition ; Commissioner of
Finance reported favorably. On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset it was
ordered that the delinquent tax agaiist said property in the amount of $75.65 be compromised
for the amount of $25.00. The motion carried.
On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the meeting adjourned to
Monday, February 29th 1932, at 7.30 p. m.
