Present John Chapek, H.E.Cox, L.J.Defosset. .,bsent J.B.Berkemeyer, L.F.Sinsheimer. On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the following applications for licenses were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council : Dollie McKeen - Boarding House - 1212 Garden Street ':?rs.F.T.Ferguson - Spanish Kitchen - 1127 I.Ionterey Street :;I. Urabe - Billiards & Pool and Cigars Sideline - 162 Higuera Street Paul H.Stephens - Soft Drinks - From Ice Cream wagon The application of E. J. and Alice Reynolds for permit to lay sidewalk on the ',vest side of Santa Rosa Street between Leff Street and Church Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works with power to act, on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox The application of Cline's Electric Shop for permit to hang a Neon Sign at the P. & 0. Cafe at 412 Higuera Street and the application of C.E.Freeman for permit to erect a display sign at the corner of Monterey and Grove Streets, were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on motion of H. E. Cox seconded by L. J. Defosset. The petition of I.1ary G. Jackson for permit to remove three Acacia trees from park sidewalk in front of residence at 790 Islay Street, was referred to the Commissioner of Public 17orks for investigation and report to the Council. Communication from Pacific Coast Labor Bureau read and ordered placed on file. On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox the following applications of the Shell Oil Company and of the Union Oil Company for permit to install gasoline storage tanks and pumps as set out below were granted : Shell Oil Company : 1 - 1,000 gallon tank and electric visible pump 1 - 1,000 gallon tank and twin meter pump 1 - 1,000 gallon tank and twin meter pump Union Oil Company : 1 - 2,000 gallon .tank Toro and Monterey Streets. - Higuera and Nipomo Streets. - Higuera and South Streets. Monterey and Essex Streets. 1 - 2,000 gallon tank - Higuera and Nipomo Streets. Applications of the Midland Counties Public Service Corporation 7#200 and n201 for permit to do certain work on Francis Street between Victoria Street and Southern Pacific Railroad Right of 17ay, and on Marsh Street between Walker Street and Broad Street, respectively, were granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset with the provision -that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox the application of Tie Chong for license for Cigar Store at 834 Palm Street was granted. City Clerk directed to send letter to Cheater Haywood of the Mission Taxi Service,', and to A.P.JW!otto -?os requesting them to appear before the Council, Monday Evening ISarch 7th and show cause why they should net pay license on all cars used in their respective Taxicab business. On.motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox the meeting adjourned. Approved this day of 19520
