City Hall, Tionday, September 12th 1932 - 7 :30 P.I,I.
City Council met in adjourned session - 'Tice President of the Council John Chapek
presiding.
Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, John Chapek, H.F.Cox, L.J.Defosset.
Absent : 11ayor L.F.Sinsheimer.
The applications of hlrs. I. Black for licenses for Lunch Counter and Soft Drinks
were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on
motion of H.F.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset.
Application. :of i:ir. and srs. H.J.Laird for permit to construct 200 ft of five foot
park sidewalk , curbing and gutter on the South side of Palm Street between Johnson Street and
Ida Street, granted on motion of u.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset.
The report of the Pound Keeper for the month of :august 1932 was received and ordered
placed on file.
The petition of G.H.Inao for transfer of license for merchandise ( Dry Goods ) at
166 Higuera street to J.H.Pine, granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.H.Cox.
Petition of the Gospel Army, by Staff Captain C.D. I:Iacy, for permit to solicit funds
for Missionary and other purposes was referred to the Commissioner of Public health and Safety
The request of the Disabled American 'Veterans of the `,'Iorld 'Jar , by Jay B.Holcomb,
Cora_lander, for permit to conduct their annual"For- Get - Ile- Not"drive on September 24th was grantee
on motion:. -of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.i.Cox.
In a co,amunieation J.I:I.Sorenson,President of San Luis ubispo Chapter of the
California State Employees' Association extended an invitation to the members of-the Council
and City Employees to attend the annual picnic of the said Association, to be held at the
County Fark on the Upper Arroyo Grande Greek on Sunday, September 18th. 1932. Communication
received and placed on file. City Clerk to acknowledge with thanks.
On motion of L.J.Befosset seconded by H.B.Cox the following applications for license

Application of the Santa Maria Gas Company for permit to cut pavement at the
intersection of I,;arsh and Chorro ftreets for the purpose of locating and repairing Gas leak
s again laid over.
Petition of Floyd C. Cook et.al. in re license for croft :Drinks again laid over.
Final action on Ordinance !�o. 166 ( New series ) An Ordinance licensing Contractors,
ras deferred.
