HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/01/1933446 City Hall, Monday, I,Iay let. 1933 - 7 :30 !.M. City Council met in regular session - Vice President of the Council John Chapek presiding. Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, John Chapek, H.E.Cox, L.J.Defosset. Absent : Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer. The minutes of April 17th and 24th were read and approved as read on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by H.E.Cox. The application of Chas R. Maier for permit to build a residence on part of Lot 2 Block 4 at a Coast of 7 4,700.00 was granted on motion of L.J,Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox with the provision that W.J.Charters, the Contractor named therein, comply with Ordinance in re Contractors license and Bond. The application of II.J.Hightower for permit to suspend a wooden sign under present Electric Sign at corner of Higuera and Chorro Streets, referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council. Petition of rlrs. D.-I. Lumpkins for peri.iit to remove a tree, in yard at 1429 Osos St., referred to the Commissioner of Public :forks for report to the Council, on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer. Application of W.J.Charters for permit to install an underground gasoline storage tank of 7,500 gallons capacity at the Golden Rule Service Station, Idonterey Street, referred tc the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council, on motion of J.B.3erkemeyer seconded by H.3.Cox. The following applications for " Beverage " ( Beer ) licenses, as required by Ordinance Ito. 170 ( 14ew Series ) were received. Applications and Bonds being in proper form and the Sureties in each case being acceptable, it was moved by L.J.Defosset and seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer that the applications be granted and licenses issued: 3.H-Greeley ( Greeley's Grocery ) "Retail Off Sale" 392 Santa Rosa St Idrs. Lenora Sims ( The Rite Spot Lunch ) " On Sale " 421 Higuera Street. Application of Valley Electric Co., ( C.J.Jacohson ), for registration as Class " E " Contractor, together with Bond and license fee received, and on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by H.E.Cox Bond was approved and license granted. Reports of the City Collector and the Police Judge for the month of April 1933, were received and ordered filed on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer. Communication of Allen -F. Gillihan, County Health Officer, in re Convention of California Sewage ':,forks :association to be held in the City of r3an Luis Obispo May 5th and 6th 1933, ordered placed on file. Claims against the f .'ity of San Luis Obispo for the month of April 1933, were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments, on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset. J.C.;:Ic Gregor representing the Bakery industry in the City of San Luis Obispo requested the Council to consider an Ordinance which would protect local Bakeries from outside competition. Idatter to be taken up with Laundry matter. Communication from League of Women Voters of San Luis Obispo, in re Charter Amendment received and ordered plated on file, and called to the attention of the I;Iayor, Applications of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to place poles on Story Street and on High Street, in accordance with petition on file, laid over.
