City Hall, Monday, July 3rd 1933 - 7 :30 P.M.
City Council met in regular session - Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present : J. B. BerkemeyDr ,L.J.Defosset,3.P.Howell,Joseph Leary,L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent None.
The minutes of June 19th and 26th 1933, were read and approved as read on motion
of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.r.Howell.
On "otion of J.B.3erkemeyer seconded by L.J.Defosset the following applications
for per.lit to build were granted :
`Gilmore Oil Co - Service Station Lots 1 & 2 "lock 62 Cost 1,000.00

ordered filed on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer.
Claims against the City for the month of June 1933 were ordered paid subject to
he approval of the heads of the respective departments and the I.Iayor , on motion of
.B.Berkemeyer seconded by L.J.Defosset.
Applications for the regular quarterly licenses were granted on motion of
L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer.

Petition. of Cline's Electric Shop.f or permit to remove a horizontal Neon Sign
at San Luis Hotel , 697 Higuera Street and install Vertical Tdeon Sign, granted on motion of
L.J.Defosset seconded by R.P.Howell, as was also, the petition of the Standard Oil Uompany
for permit to place wooden signs atop Service Stations at E onterey and Santa Rosa Streets,
Higuera and Osos Streets, Higuera and Idarsh Streets and at South and Higuera 6treets.

On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the following applications
for licenses were granted :

Petition of Merrifield Electric Company for permit to hang a Horizontal Tdeon
Sign at Associated Service Station , 301 Higuera Street, granted on motion of L.J.Defosset
seconded by R.P.Howell, with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the
ity Engineer and in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance.
Petitions of W.T.Walker, H.E.Clark and Carlo Borlandelli for licenses for
ontractore continued.
Petition of r.A.H.Arata in re Tax Sales, and the petition of T.F- Weaver at al
re premises at 1416 Palm Street continued.
Matter of unpaid licenses continued.
It was moved by Joseph Leary and seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer that the Council
ommend and thank the members of the Fire Department, and the Police Department, and those
assisted at the fire at St James Hotel July 3rd. for the efficient service rendered. The

Petition of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to do certain
k on Story Street laid over.
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by L.J.Defosset the meeting adjourned to
onday, June 10th 1933, at 7 :30 P,M,
