City Council,met in regular session - I:Iayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding. i Present : J.3.3erkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent : None. The minutes of August 7th and 14th 1933 were read and approved as read on motion of .F.iowell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer. The merchandising Bond of James :•'. ',Nilson, Surety _'red Kluver, was received and on motion of 3.P.Howell seconded by J.B.3erkemeyer the surety was accepted, the Bond approved and license ordered issued. Application of Theo. I:i. ?;aino for per.-.iit to make addition to building in Block 13 at a cost of $ 1,000.00 was ordered held over, until such time as the applicant furnishes plans and specifications for the proposed improvement. On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by :.�.riowell the application of Hand, Halpin and Hibler Inc., of Santa Maria, California, for " ';holesale. Off Sale " license for Beer, to be delivered from Truck, was received and referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council. Report of the City.Collector on unpaid licenses for the July quarter 1933, received and referred to the Police Department for report. Loomis & Loomis, by Chester W. Loomis, submitted bid for Public Liability and grope .Damage insurance on City owned Automobiles. On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berk,meyer the matter was referred to the Commissioner of Fin�lnce and Revenue for report. Attorney I7.J.Minville presented a petition from retail meat dealers requesting the Council to enact an Ordinance requiring all retailers of uncooked and uncured meat, and stores dealing in such products, to close their places of business, except between the hours of seven o'clock A.It. and six o'clock P.Ir. on days other than Sundays and Legal Holidays, when the above mentioned products shall be prohibited from sale or delivery. A draft of an Ordinance was also presented. After discussion it was moved by L.J.Defosset and seconded by P:.P.Howell that the petition be received and taken under advisement. That the Ordinance, as presented , be taken up as a special order of business at the next meeting of the Council. Natter of extension of coverage submitted by ielph C, Kennedy for Public Liability and Property .Damage Insurance, under policy of Ralph C. 1-ennedy, which Policy expires August 22d. 1933 - referred to the Commissioner of Finance and Revenue. II.R.Tonini verbally petitioned the Council for permit to use a certain portion of Sycamore Street, lying between Jorth broad Street and Chorro Street. On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by Joseph Leary the petitioner-was requested to make formal application in writing. Application of Steve Zegar for permit to build a Service Station on Lot 7 Block 4 Jentral Addition at a Cost of $ 3,550.00 was granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer. Ordinance Ido. 173 ( New Series ) An Ordinance Amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. 103 ( New Series ) relating to the disposal of Garbage was finally passed on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer by the following vote: Ayes J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, F.P.Howell,Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer. .does None. Cher and Thomas Shipman for permit to repair foundations of residences in Block 2 Central Addition and in Block 32, respectively, were ordered placed on file for future consideration. On motion of L'.J.Defosset seconded by H.P:Howell the application of Helen Chapin and Elizabeth A. Shafer for licenses for Lunch Counter and ;oft Drinks at Cor. Higuera and ,torro Streets were granted. Application of Helen Chapin, together with Bond for " on Sale " Beer licnese at corne of Higuera and :,orro Street was ordered granted on motion duly seconded and carried. -Application of C.Tablang and M. Joaquin for licenses for 3illiards and pool and 'ligars Sideline at 162 Higuera Street held over for further time to report. I::idland Counties Public Service Corporation application # 213 for certain work upon oad Street between I"Urray Avenue and ?:fission Street, as set out in said application on file, s gra:ited on motion of J.3.Berkemeyer seconded by L.J.Defosset. Midland Counties Public Service Corporation application _Y' 211 for certain proposed rk on Higuera Street between archer Street and South Street again laid over. The following matters pending were referred to the next meeting: Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company for permit to set pole on Story Street. Petition of P.A.H.Arata in re Tax Sales. .-Petition of T.F.Weaver in re premises at 1416 Palm Street. Petitions of H.E.Clark and Henry C. Dalessi for registration as Class E Contract Claim of Sidney Goldtree in re refund on Taxes. Proposed amendment to Ordinance regulating and licensing the sale of Beer was laid over to the next meeting. The matter of rates for Gas and Electricity was continued to the next meeting. On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the meeting adjourned to Lionday, August 28th 19:3, at 7 :30 P.i ;i.
