Present : J,B.Berkemeyer, L.J,Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L,F.Sinsheimer. Absent : None, The minutes of April 2nd. and 9th. were read and approved as read on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.3.Berkemeyer. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion duly 1 seconded and carried Roman Catholic Church- Repairs to Church property Block 11 Cost 150,00 IVI.H.Culp - Addition to residence pt lot 5 Block 120 Iulurray & Church Addn 400,00 Ierchandising Bond of Karl's Shoe Stores, Ltd., secured by a certified check in the amount of $ 200.00 was received, and on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Les: the surety was accepted and the Bond approved. On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the following matters were referred to the Coumissioner of Public- - Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council Application of Virginia Iuay Jacobson for license for Lodging House at 1011 Morro Street; applications of Cline's Electric Shop for permit to hang a iiaon " Cloak Sign " reading "Jerry Jerram " on Osos Street between Lonterey and niguera Streets, and , a wooden sign 18 ft x 3 ft flush with face of building at 779 L4arsh Street for Pay'n Takit Stor ; also, the application of F.C.Kimball for permit to install 1 - 10,000 gallon under- ground gasoline storage tank at 283 Higuera Street. Application of J.Hollinger together with Bond and fee of $ 15.00 for ' registration as Class " E " Contractor received , and on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the Sureties were accepted and the Bond approved, with the provision that t application have State License for Contracting. Application of nIrs. Frances Van Gorden for permit to open trench for Sewer connection on Pismo Street between Essex Street and Southern Pacific Railroad right -of -way, granted on motion of J,B.Berkerieyer seconded by R.P.Howell. The Santa I:llaris Gas Company visa per;.iitted to replace old 2" main with 3" main on Johnson r.venue between S.P.--.R, overhead Bridge and the General Hospital . she reports of the City Treasurer for the month of February and of the City Clerk for the month of March were received and ordered placed on file, on motion'of' J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by .r.Howeil. A petition was presented by Chester ; Bruce, 956 Swazey Street, and others, requesting the improvement of Osos Street from Southern Pacific right -of -way east, to, and . including Swazey Street and Rachel Street.: Clatter discussed with petitioner, and on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by R.P.Howell the matter was referred to the Commissioner of Public forks and the City Engineer for survey and report on Cost of work, etc, Application of Cline's Electric Shop for permit to nang a rertieal electric sign for Frank Serpa at 684 Higuera Street, and the application of Herrera Bros., for permit to move a Neon Sign from 987 I:ionterey Street to 89.8 Monterey Street, granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer with the provision that said.signs;;;;be Chung in accordance with ordinance and under the supervision on the City Engineer. Applications of Robt.E.Calvert for licenses for Restaurant and Cigars Sidel: at 856 Monterey Street, granted on motion of L.J,Defosset seconded by R.P.Howell, The Merchandising Bond of T.J.Hollinger, with R.J.Viaters and J.Hollinger as Sureties, was approved, and the Sureties accepted, on motion-of R.P:Howell seconded by Joseph Teary.
