City liall, Monday. May 21st 1934 - 7 :30 p,Me
City Council met in regular session - Hayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present : J.B.Berke2eyer, L,J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent None,
The minutes of May 7th and 14th were read and approved as read on motion of
R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer,
The following application for permit to build was granted on motion of
J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by L,J,Defosset with the provision that the Contractor named
therein take a license for contracting:
Bettie 8c L.tiV.Luchessa - Remodel present building on Lot 7 and a part of
lot 8 Block 99 at a Cost of 10,000,00
On motion duly seconded and carried the following applications for permit to
lay sidewalk and curbing were granted with the provision that work be done under the
supervision of the City Engineer :

- 44 ft of 5'ft park sidewalk m d curbing on the north side of Upham Street
between Broad Street and Garden Street.
- 40 ft of 5 ft park sidewalk and curbing on the north side.of Upham Street
between 3road Street and Garden Street,
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the petition of F.H.Avery, Jr.,
sector of St Stephens Church, for permit to place two Auto Club Ltarkers at the corner of
iiguera and Idipomo Streets, directing location of St Stephens Episcopal Church, was referred
to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council,
Application of Rudolph's Electric Shop for peiiit to erect a Neon Chevron Sign
for Standard Oil Company at Service Station corner of Marsh and Higuera Street, referred
to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report.
In a communication, Jessee Yoakum, General Chairman of Fiesta G ommittee, requested
the Uouncil to have American Flags and Street Streamers , which are the property of the City,
stretched across the streets in the business district, from Saturday June 2nd. until
Sunday, June 10th inclusive, for the tenth Annual Fiesta. Fatter discussed and on
motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the request was granted .
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the Commissioner of Supplies
was directed to look into the condition of flags, streamers, bunting etc., on hand, and
report at the next meeting of the Council,
A petition was received from pupils of the Senior High School requesting the
Council to see that Tennis Courts are installed on the Senior High School.Campus: On moti
duly seconded and carried the petition was ordered filed Clerk requested to
acknowledge receipt of same.
In a communication B.J,Dillon tendered his resignation as Police Judge of the
City of San Luis Obispo, to become effective at such time as in the.judgment of the Council,
the Public interest require a change. It was moved by Joseph Leary and seconded by
L.J.Defosset that'the resignation be accepted The motion carried.
After further discussion, ,he hereinabove motion was withdrawn, and , it was then moved
by Joseph teary and seconded by L.J.Defosset that the resignation of B.Jā¢Dillon as Police
Judge be accepted, to take effect June first next. The motion carried,
Applications were received from Richard F. Harris, and from Edward E. Neal for
appointment to the Office of Police Judge. The said applications were received and
(ordered placed on file, on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by R.P.Howell,
Application of Chas. Q. Hatchett for permit to lay 50 ft of 5 ft park sidewalk
and curbing on the north side of Church Street between Morro Street and Santa Barbara
Avenue was granted on motion of J.B.Ber$emeyer seconded by Joseph Leary,
