L.F,Sinsheimer presiding: Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent : None, The minutes. of August 6th., 13th., and 16th., were read and approved as read on motion of R.P.Zowell seconded by Joseph Leary. The application:lof G.S.Idewell for license for Restaurant at 1025 Morro Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council, on motion dilly seconded and carried. On motion of R.P.Howell seconded by L.J.Defosset the application of y.D.Dunning for permit to repair full width sidewalk in front of Junior High School Building on Marsh Street, was granted. with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City engineer. The Iierchandising Bond of VI-0-Henderson, with Vim F. Schmidt as Surety was received and on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the Surety was accepted and the Bond approved. Application of " Haight for Governor " Committee, by Iiildred G. Beckler, Secty., for permit to hang a political Banner across Higuera Street from Hills Stationery to Bank of America, was referred to the Co=issioner of Public Health and Safety with power to act, on motion bf J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell. Applications of G.H.Shadinger for licenses for Restaurant and Cigars as a Side Line at 1127 Monterey Street were granted on favorable report and motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by R.P.Howell. Application of E.P.Rogers for permit to hang a Banner across Higuere Street from 'dineman Hotel to 'garden Jr. Building, advertising the candidacy of George a, Linn for Congress, was granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer with,the provision that said Banner hang until August 29th. when same shall be removed. The following applications were granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by .F.Howell : Joe Blazej - To hang cloth sign for Geo. Pounder at 695 Higuera Street. Helen Jean - To remove Street Clock from 790 Higuera Street to 867 Monterey Street. Cline's Electric Shop - To hang horizontal o;,alescent sign reading ,^ Taxi'" for Liissio Taxi at 987 I:Ionterey street. To remove Sears, Roebuck sign from former lication to 879 Higuera street. The Valley Electric Co- To hang a Leon double-faced horizontal for J.W.Sullivan at 1068 Hill Street. The applications of the Talley Zlectric Co for permit to hang triangular shaped .ieon Signs for Stag Billiard Parlor at 956 L•ionterey Street, and for Chorro Cafe at 1032 Chorro Street were held over to the next meeting of the Council. 1 I Cl
