HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/26/1934/i On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.P.Howell it was ordered that the Santa Maria Gas Company be requested to discontinue lighting Gas Street lights on Osos Street between Pacific Street and Terrace Hill District, until further order of the Council. Resolution No. 388 ( New Series ) A Resolution ordering the closing up of a portion of.Ward Street as described in Resolution of Intention No. 387-( New Series ), was introduced and adopted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by R.P.Howell by the following vote: Ayes : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer..... Noes : None. �bsent : None. Re : petition of Leona Johnson Maring for permit.to connect a water service line, proposed to be installed by petitioner, to main service water line of the City of San Luis Obispo at a point on Osos Road known as Olgiatti Place and extending approxi- ately 600 feet westerly to the Jeff Johnson Place, for the purpose of serving, at the present time, three water consumers on the Jeff Johnson Place. The matter was discussed and on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the petition was granted - work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer; and , it was further provided, that application for service connections be.filed in the regular required form with the City Collector; That the City of San Luis Obispo be in no way, whatsoever, obligated for any expenses incurred for pipes, meters,etc.; That water be used for domestic purposes only,. and further, that the City of San Luis Obispo reserves the right to discontinue such service at its pleasure. On motion of R.P.Howell seconded by L.J.Defosset the meeting adjourned to 11onday, i4ovember, 26th. 1934, at 7 :30 p.11. The following application for permit to build was granted on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howells ' I.O.Compton - Extension of room Block 137 Phillips Addn Cost 100000 Application of G.A.Hartmen for license for Cigars Sideline at 995 Higuera Street, and.the applications of 3udolph's Electric for permit to hang a Neon Sign at Economy Drug Store, 770 Higuera Street, and of Cline's Electric Shop for permit to hang a !%eon Sign at Wilson's Flower Shop, 1114 Garden Street, were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council. The report of the City Collector on licenses for October quarter 1934 was referred to the Police Department for collection on ,notion of R.P.Howell seconded by J. B. Berke-neyer. 421 On motion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer claim of the City lax Collector in the amount of $ 211.66 , same being for 1st installment of Tax due for the year 1934 -1935 from the City of San Luis Obispo for the improvement of Palm Street, Lower Higuera Street, and Broad Street, was passed. Clerk directed to draw warrant on Interest Fund,for the said amount. Application of O:J.Ilonett for license for Cigars Sideline at 1120 ;Sorro Street granted on motion duly seconded and carried. Re : applioation of Board of Directors of First Church of Christ, Scientists, for permit to place a sign; On favorable report of the Commissioner of Public Healt and Safety it was :,loved by J.B.Berkemeyer and seconded by 3:P.Howell that the application be granted, with the provision that said sign be placed at Higuera and Garden streets, Bank of America corner; That all expense incurred be borne by petitioners, and that work done under the supervision of the City Engineer. On motion duly seconded and carried the following applications for permit to hang signs were granted with the provision that said signs hang in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance, and that stork be dibne under the supervision of the City Engineer: ineIa ev ZlecV when ideon Sign for Wlakemden'a Chorro and Monterey Streets. Ifeon sign Granada Cafe 1120 Lorro Street. _ Canvass with wood frame sign 1725 Broad Street. Re : claim of. the Valley Electric Company in the amount of $ 38.20 : Commissi r zinance reported that he had investigated the matter and recommended that the bill be paid, and on his motion seconded by Joseph Leary it was ordered that the bill be paid. Re : signs for City entrances : Discussion . It was roved by R.P.Howell, econded by Joseph Leary and carried, that the agreement of Electrical Products Corporation or T1eon signs for North and South entrances to the City of San Luis Obispo be accepted. Re : request of committee on Emergency Educational Program for contribution . City = attorney rendered adverse opinion.
