Present J.3.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, F.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent : None. The Merchandising Bond of George V. Bettecourt and Joe A.Davis , with Sun Indemnity Company of idew York as Surety, was approved and the Surety accepted on motion ' of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary. I:Ierchandising Bond of Clarence Brown, with Ted ti7. Brown of 418 American Avenue, Long 3each,California, as Surety referred to the Commissioner of Finance for investigation and report to the Council. Application of :.Hightower for license for Restaurant at 995 Higuera Street ( 'Tidway Cafe ) referred to the Co:i_iissioner of Public Bealth and Safety for investigation and report to the Council on motion duly seconded and carried. Petition of I =rs. Franco Chavis for transfer of license for Lunch Counter at 866 531 e Palm Street to Estanislao Camat ordered granted, retition of Merrifield I.uaic and Electric Co., for permit to hang a metal sign with wood frame ( approx 20 ft x 2, ft ) parallel with face of building at 786 Higuera Street referred to Commissioner of Public health and Safety for investigation and report, Application of Zanta i;iaria Gas Company for permit to break pavement 2 x 4 ft at intersection of Marsh and Santa Rosa Streets to repair leak in Street Light Gas Service was referred to the Commmissioner of Public forks with :power to act on motion of i:.P•Howell seconded by L.J.Defosset. State of California Senate Concurrent resolution No 4 relative to recognition by the Legislature of the State of California of the California Pacific International ' exposition which will open at San Diego, May 29, 1935, read. It was ordered that the lame be placed on file and that a copy be given local newspapers for publication. Re : petition of Irene J. Carpenter, through Tax Research, Inc., for cancellatioz f Taxes on property occupied by 1.7estern Union Telegraph Company in,Block 17. On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.3erke•ieyer matter referred to the Commissioner of Finance for investigation and report. Arata, Adnx. of the Estate of P.A.H.Arata::. offered compromise of delinquent tax on a certain parcel of property in Block 7 of Hathway Addition. Matter referred to the Commissioner of ;finance for adjustment. On favorable report and motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by R.P.Howell the County of San Luis Obispo is granted permit to install a 285 gallon underground Gas tank and Pump 1 at Berkemeyer Garage, 1005 Idonterey Street, with the provision that work be done in aceorda with specifications of the Board of Fire Underwriters and under the supervision of the City Engineer. Petition of Clarence Brown for permit to hang a Ii`eon Clock Sign at 1037 Chorro Street granted with the provision that said sign hang according to provisions of Ordinance; that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. Application of 1.Irs. Yukiye Urabe for license for Hotel at 158 Higuera Street, remises known as Pacific Hotel, granted on motion duly seconded and carried. Petition of Foster and Kleiser Ca,ipany for permit to erect a sign Board in Block 123 , Higuera Street between Osos Street and Santa -Rosa Street, laid over for one week. Petition of W.D.1Lc---1ae for permit to remove a walnut tree at 1153 Islay Street, John 1:Icauaid property, granted on motion of J.B.13erkemeyer seconded by L.J.Defosset. 531 e 54 Re petition of F.C.1,Iacha et al for better Fire protection on Woodbridge yv and Lawton Street. Commissioner of public ':forks authorized to install two hydrants. 3e : petition of R.A.Francis, Lessee of Andrews Hotel for parking spaces Com- missioner of Public Health and Safety reported that matter had been adjusted. L-atter of the petition of D.H. and Flora E. Foree for cancellation of Tax on certain property laid over. He : petition of r.A.H.Arata, deceased, for cancellation of delinquent tax on parcel of land in Block 7 Hathway addition. It was moved by Joseph Leary seconded by L.J.Defosset and carried that R.P.Howell, Commissioner of Finance, be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to settle matter with Grace P., Arata, Admx of the Estate of P.A.H.:..- Arata. Re : proposed Electric Street Lights for east side of City. City =Engineer reported on It?ap.submitted by lighting Company. Discussion. It was moved by J.B.Berkemeyer, seconded by R.P.Howell that Midland Counties Public Service Corporation start work according to plan, as they see fit. The motion carried. Commissioner of Public ',Yorks reported that San Luis Obispo School District had granted Jessie P. Cook temporary privilege to cross School property. Ordinance No. 179 ( New Series ) An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 76 ( IIew Series ) by adding a new Section to be numbered.Section 34* providing a license for the business of Bottling and selling Soft Drinks, was introduced and passed to print:; on motion of a1.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer by the following vote: Ayes : J.3.3erkemeyer, L.J.Defosse.t, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer.
