City Hall. Monday, April 8th 1935- 7. :30 p.m,
City Council met in adjourned session - Idayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J•Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer.
lbsent : None.
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the following application
for permit to build was granted subject to the approval of the Building Inspector :
ry Paynter - New front and remodeling of building Block 13
Cost $ 29000.00
The following applications for permit to hang signs were referred to the Com-
issioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council :

The report of the City Treasurer for the month of February 1935, and the rep
Df the Police Judge for the month of Mareh 1935 were received and ordered placed on file.
On behalf of .7donday Club, Olga A. Onstad, corresponding secretary, requested
ermission to hang the :,Ionday Club Banner across Higuera Street from the City Pharmacy to
he :lineman Hotel, advertising Monday Club's Premier Entertainment to be held on Saturday,
pril 27th at two o'clock P.'.:. at the Senior High School. On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer
econded by R.P.Howell the request was granted with the provision that said Banner hang
of more than one week prior to the entertainment.
The application of O.P,Marray for license for Class " E " Contractor, together
th Surety. Bond in the amonn$ of $ 500.00, and license fee of $x.15.00 was received, and on
otion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer it was ordered that the Bond be approved
license issued.
On motion of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary the petition of The Board of
rectors of First Church of Christ, Scientists, for permit to place a direction Sign in
t of Woolworth Store was denied.
Application of G. Silva,for license for Bakery at 575 Worth Broad Street was
ted on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell.
On motion of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary the application of B.C.Dennis,
for permit to hang a metal Coca - Cola sign at Dennis Dairy Lunch, 894 Higuera Street,
ted with the provision that said sign be hung in accordance with the provisions of
rdinance.
Commissioner R.P.Howell reported adversely on the claim of George Smith for
alleged injury to claimants Automobile, and on his motion seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the
said claim was denied.
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the following licenses were
ordered cancelled:

It was moved by R.p.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer and carried that $ 25.00
be contributed to the Salvation Army Kitchen.to provide food for transients during the mon
Of April; It was further stipulated that the full sum be used locally for the above
named purpose and that no part thereof be sent to Salvation Army headquarters. Joseph Lear,
voted " No ".
