City Hall, Monday, June 17th 1935 - 7;30 Pim.
City Council met in regular session - Vice President of the Council
L.J.Defosset presiding.
Present - J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary.
Absent - Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer.
The minutes of June 3rd and 10th were read and approved as read on motion of
R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer.
Application of Thomas C. Humphrey for license for Mdse ( Confect. Lunch, Soft
Drinks etc ) at 796 Higuera Street referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and
Safety for report, as was also, the application of the Valley Electric Company for permit
to hang a double faced Neon Sign for Budweiser Tavern at 1032 Chorro Street.
The report of the City Clerk for the month of April and of the City Treasurer
and the Police Judge for the month of I; ?ay were received and ordered placed on file, on
motion duly seconded and carried.
Application of the Santa I,Taria Gas Company for permit to break pavement
2' x 4' on Santa Rosa Street between P,iill Street and Peach Street to repair Gas leak was
granted on favorable report and motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell.
Application of Santa Maria Gas company for permit to cut pavement and open
trench on Santa :,osa Street between Elill Street and Peach Street to repair Gas leaks and
renew Gas main where necessary referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, on motion of
R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary.
Communication from L.T•Curtright re insurance ordered filed.
Applications for the regular quarterly licenses were received and referred to
the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council.
report of the City Collector on unpaid licenses for the April quarter 1935,
referred to the Police Department for collection.
Petition of J.H.League for permit to hang a sign ( Cloth frame ) at Winter
Garden Building granted on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R,P,Howell with the
provision that said sign be hung according to Ordinance.
Application of Walter J. T:Tartin for Tobacco as a side line license,( Vending
machine ).at) 1020::? gorror .Street;�rdulholland's.Grill, granted on motion duly seconded and
carried.
Petition of R.S.Shatford for sewer connection on Lizzie Street continued.
Application of _;Iidland Counties Public Service Corporation ldo. 228 for certain
ork upon Chorro Street between Islay Street and Pismo Street, more particularly described
in said application on file, was granted on motion duly seconded and carried.
Chas W. Palmer appeared in re delinquent Tax penalties Metter discussed and
(erred to the Commissioner of Finance and the City Attorney to work out some proposal
or the next meeting of the Council.
Clerk to write Insurance Company re status of City under Policy P.A. 9071
elative to coverage on non - owned cars.
