The minutes of October 19th and 26th were read --nd approved as read. On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by :.P.Howell the following application for permit to build was granted : James Quaglino Off ice ,ware house & Garage Lot 14 Block A Fairview Tract Cost 500.00 The reports of the City Collector and the Police Judge for the month of October 1956 were received and ordered placed on file. Petition of Tom Butler, Chairman rmistice Day Committee American Legion Post 66 for permit to string 26 lines of Decorations over streets of the City for Armistice Day celebration referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council. Petition of A. Spurgeon for permit to put up certain street decorations, sponsore by local merchants, for the Holiday Season, also , the petition of Sears, Roebuck & Co for permit to erect Christmas sign atop building at 879 F-'iguera street together with 200 feet of illuminated garlands and wreaths to be put in place about ovember 1st., referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report. Claims against the City for the month of October were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the '.Iayor, on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.3erkemeyer. Islatter of licensing various types of vending i:_achines was discussed. S.C.Schultz , Superintendent of the Water Depart;aent of the City of San LuisObis ...requested permit to cut pavement on Palm Street between ::`orro Street and Chorro Street, and on Pacific Street between Garden Street and Broad Street for the purpose of repairing leaks in Water Services also, to cut pavement at 3:'onterey and Santa _,osa Streets for purpose of installing 1" Service for Shell Oil Company Service Station in Block u3 - referr to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report on motion duly seconded and carried. ::.I:I.Bernard appeared and requested that the Council tike some action relative to the matter of safety for pedestrian and vehicular traffic at Osos. Street crossing of Southern Pacific Rail Road right of way. Application of American Legion Post ,, 66, by Tom Butler, Chairman of yrmistice- Lay Committee, for perrait to string certain decorations over streets for Armistice Day celebration was granted on motion duly seconded and carried. Petition of Frank F. Silveira for pen, -iit to install Septic Tank in Anholm Addn granted, on motion of R.P.uowell seconded by Joseph Leary, with the provision that work be done under supervision of the City Engineer. Application of Santa laria gas Company for perait to cut pavement at :iarsh and Beach Street to repair gas leak granted. 311 matters pending here- continued to the next meeting.
