City Hall,Tuesday, July 6th 1937 — 7 :30 P..i.
City Council met in regular session — ! <iayor L.r.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present : J.B.3erkemeyer, ?.P.::owell, Joseph leary, L.r.Sinsheimer.
Absent L.J.Defosset.
The minutes of June 21st and 28th were read and approved as read.
Petition of Vi.C.Culbertson for permit to places small Hotel.parking sign, also;
to paint curb of sidewalk at Hotel San Luis, 697 Higuera Street, referred to the Co- ahnission
r
of Public Health and Safety with power to :-act.
Petition of Lawrence C. Henderson for permit to rebuild ret&,ining wall on the
north side of Buchon Street between Chorro Street and Iriorro Street; also, to cut in a
12 foot driveway and ramp sidewalk referred to the City Engineer for report to the Council.
Application of 14.A-Sharp for permit to connect with Sewer on Olive street
between Santa Boss Street and Toro Street granted, on favorable report and motion of
J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P•Howell.
Application of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to do
certain work on !,ionterey Street — !:;urray to Grove; on Grove Street between isionterey acid
Higuera Street; on Santa 3osa Street betvjuen Hip'uera and i:iarsh Street; on Santa Rosa St
Petition of = oosevelt Highway Association,by J.i;.!::oses, and the petition of
east of Larsh Street, and on i:ionterey Street at junction of Grove Street, received and
referred to the Commissioner of Public 1,vork:s for investigation and report to the council.
Application of George 17,:Bates for registration as Class " D " Contractor
together vvith Surety Bond , United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co., in the amount of
1,000. ,10 and registration fee of $ 25.00 received, and on motion of E.P.Howell seconded
by Joseph Leary the Bond was approved and registration granted.
The reports of the City Clerk and the City Treasurer for the ,north of !siay, and
the report of the City Collector for the month of June 1937 tirere received and ordered place
on file.
Claims against the :;ity for the month of June were ordered_ paid, on motion of
7.P.Howell seconded by J.B.BerkemeWer, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective
departments and the i.iayor.
Application of ideon Sales F, Service by 2 7 Andrez, for pertait to hang a Nocn Sign
at C. ~liter's Drdg Store, 1634 Osos• 5tr:et granted, on -notion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded b
H.P.Howell, with the provision that work be done a---cording to provisions of Ordinance and
under the supervision of the City Engineer.
Re : Application of A.P,,:3uda for permit to install 3L -- 1,000 gallon gasoline
stora,3e tanks on part of Lot 1 Block 114 Heed's addition — said tanks to be located partly
under sidewalk: area It was nioved by J.B.Berkemeyer and seconded by =- P-Howell that
the application be granted with the provision that said tanks be set wholly wi'•hin the
property of petitioner, work to be done in accordance with the usual provisions. Matter
discussed. !.otion withdrawn. It was then moved by J. B. Berl :e��eyer seconded by
Joseph Teary and carried that the said application be denied without prejudice. ?tir Euda

Application of Jessie H. ,ughes for permit to hang a sign at The !_orro Rooms,
1011 _,iorro Street laid over.

Division of Highv-,ays, -District V , for permit to place certain signs at the junction of
,ionterey and Santa 1:osa Streets referred to the i.:ayor for report.
