Re: vacancy in position of Chief of Fire 4epartment ; Vice President of the
Founoil L.J.Defosset paid tribute to the memory of Joe Ghigliotti who acted as Chief of:the
Dire Department for many years, and recommended that 17.L.Payton assume the duties of that
os.t. It was moved by Joseph Leary and seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer that W.L.payton be
as acting Chief of the Fire Department, to serve in that capacity until such time as
permanent appointment is made. The motion carried.
Re : certain tree on Buchon Street near Beach Street : matter referred to
ommissioner of Public Works with power to act.
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell the meeting adjourned to LT

The following application for permit to build was granted on motion of R.P.How
seconded by Joseph Leary :
H. James - Residence & Garage pt lots 12 & 13 Blk 10 Reills Addn Cost 2,000.00
The merchandising Bond of Harold Bundock with L1rs Bessie Olave as Surety was
pproved and the Surety accepted on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary.
Application of Robert Danneberg for license for ( Penny ) Vending Machines at
131 Broad Street referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to
Council.
Application of Liargaret fYT. Hansen for permit to close Two 10 ft driveways on
set side of Toro Street between I;Iunoz Street and Buchon Street, and construct one new 10
riveway in lieu thereof, was referred to the Commissioner of Public I.-iorks with power to so

The reports of the City Clerk and the City Treasurer for the month of December
1937 received and ordered placed on file.
Matter of renewal of Policy ( expiring February 7,1938 ) with State Compensation
Insurance Fund covering employees of the City , referred to the Commissioner of Finance
vith power to act.
