ted with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer and
accordance with the provisions of Ordinance.
The application of Cook & Farnham ( Guy E. Farnham & W.I.Cook ) for registration

Petition of G.'M.P.Anholm for permit to construct a concrete retaining wall 2
5 ft high across rear of lot 15 and a part of lot 16 in Block 17 Anholm Addition, in
accordance with specifications and plan on file, received, and the said petition was grante
on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell with the provision that work be done
under the supervision of the City Engineer.
In a communication, I Lester, Chairman of Committee for the various local Veteran
organizations requested that such Street Decorations as are now up, be allowed to remain
until after Memorial Day, except such as are not in keeping with !.Remorial Day Observance..
On motion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the request was granted. TvIr Howell
to look after the matter.
Petition of W.71.Mathews for permit to construct two 12 ft driveways on the west
side of Higuera Street in Block 61 referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for
investigation and report on motion duly seconded amd carried.
Application of John V. Lemos for permit to connect with sewer on I:ontalbam Street
between Santa.Rosa Street and Stenner Creek referred to the Commissioner of Public Works
for investigation and report.
.Petition of Santa Maria Gas Company for permit to cut trench(12 inches by 200 ft)
for purpose of installing 3 inch Gas Iain on.High Street between Cypress Street and Beebee
Street, referred to the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer for report to
the Council.
Application of Rundles' Inc. for permit to hang a Neon Sign at Ray Stillings.

and Safety for investigation and report. Communication from Rundles' Inc., re raising
Neon Sign installed at Dr. T.A.Rose office 1231 Garden Street to comply with Ordinance
ordered placed on file.
Petition of Mrs J.C.Biggs et.al. protesting the using of Mitchell Lot for Night
Ball Games received, and after discussion it was moved by R.P.Howell seconded by
Joseph Leary that the petition'presented be laid over to the next meeting. The motion
carried and it was so ordered.
JOn motion of T.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell, J.C.James, City Treasurer,
was authorized to contract with Banks for the deposit of City Funds in " inactive accounts"

Re : petition of R.S.Shatford for extension of water line on proposed extension o
Fixlini Street Discussion. On motion of R.P,Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer
it was ordered that the,-.petition be rejected without prejudice. The motion carried and
it was so ordered.

R.Td:Bernard - to replace vitrified sewer pipe with Cast Iron Pipe on George Street betwee.
Santa Rosa Street and Osos Street.
Herbert E McBratney - To cut pavement on Chorro Street between Mission Street and West
Street to install sewer for new residence.
Application of Minnie E 11yers for sewer connection on I;Zorro-Street between Leff
Street and Church Street laid over.
There was discussion re taxes levied against a certain parcel of property for the
year 1937 -38 title of which is now vested in Veterans' 'Welfare Board. Matter laid over.
On notion of J.B.Berkeineyer seconded by R.P.Howell the meeting adjourned.
