M. 6 The City Council met in regular session - Vice President of the Council, L. J. Defosset presiding. Present: J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J. Defosset, R.Y. Howell, Joseph Leary Absent: Mayor, L. F. Sinsheimer. The minutes of March 20th and 27th were read and approved as read. The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of ?. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Pettenger - Addition to building, Block 62 Cost 100.00 llie Sauer - Alterations part of Lot "G ", Block 14, Cost 40.00 The : "_erebandising Bond of W. C. Bedford with U. S.Fidelity and Guaranty Co. Bondin the amount of 6,200.00 as surety, was approved, the surety accepted, and license ordered issued on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer. Berkemeylr, Is 0 the work be done in accordance with Ordinance and izuder the supervision of the City Engineer. The petition of G. B. Richini to remove a treee from sidewalk area on Branch Street at Harris Street granted with the provision that a tree be planted in lieu thereof within three feet of the location of the present tree. Claims against the City for the month of March 1939, -were ordered paid on motion of R. P. Fo -well, seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mavor. The petition of I. 0. Compton for permit to remove a tree from sidewalk area at Mill and Grove Streets was granted, while the application of the said petitioner for a Stop Sign at the Street intersection of Grove and Mill Streets was denied on motion duly seconded and carried. The application of Jose Campa for license for Restaurant at 887 Palm Street laid over. The petition of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. for permit to•do certain -work on Lizzie` and Upham Streets between Johnson Street and Fixlini Street, more particularly described in application on file, was granted on motion of J. n'. ?erkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell. The application of the San Joaquin Power Division, Pacific. Gas and Electric Co. No. 253 for permit to replace a 20' pole with a 45' pole on Beebee Street between High Street and Branch Street granted on motion duly seconded and carried. The petition of George Dawson for transfer of .license for Lunch Counter, Soft Drinks and Cigars Sideline at 1088 Higuera Street to C. A. Markel granted on motion duly seconded and carried. The petition of the Neon Sales and Service by B. M. Andrez for permit to hang a neon sign at the Tasty Bakery at 895 Higuera Street granted with the provision that Is 0 the work be done in accordance with Ordinance and izuder the supervision of the City Engineer.
