HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/10/1939City 3;.11, Wednesday, May 10th, 1939- 7:30 P. MR. City Council met in adjourned session - Mayor L. F. Sinsheimer presiding. Present: J. B. Berkemeyer, L. J. Defosset, R. F. Howell, Joseph Leary, L. F. Sinsheimer. Absent: ^ ?one Applications of Harry A. Forth, and Harry E. �7aite for employment with the City of San Luis Obispo ordered placed on file for future referenbe. Communication from J. A. Moss, President General, of the United States Flag Association, relative to Flag Week, beginning June 8th received. Mayor L. F...Sinsheimer appointed the following a Committee: I. Lester, R. 'R. Shelby and J. 'd1. Hoskins. R. W. Shelby and J. 71. Hoskins representing Post No. 1766 Veterans of Foreign Wars, appeared and requested the Council to assist in defraying expense of Veterans of Foreign '.'. ?ars 'Band to convention at Hollywood 'Tune leth to 21st. It'was moved by R. P. Nowell, seconded by L. J. Defosset and carried that the Council contribute $100.00 for the said purpose. Clerk authorized to draw warrant. This being the date fixed for receiving bids on $25,000.00 "City of Son Luis Obispo Water Bonds of 1939 - Series A" in accordance with official notice of sale dated April 24th, 1939 -- the following is a list of all bids received which were publicly opened and read: William R. Staats Co. Los Angeles, California: For$25,000.00 Municipal Imp. Bonds of 1939, The sum of par, accrued interest to date of delivery, and a premium of $72.00 certified check in amount of $750.00 accompanied said bid. Kaiser & Company: San Francisco. California: For $215,000.00 Municipal Improvement Bonds of 1939, the sum of par, accrued.interest to dete of delivery, together with a premium of 6,38.00 certified check in the amount of $750.00 accompanied said bid. After discussion it was moved by J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell and carried that the said bids be taken under advisement to Friday evening, May 12th, 1939 at 7:30 P. Lff. Resolution No. 419 (New Series) A Resolution.providing for the execution of an agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and Lowe Sanitary District relating to the'connection of the Sewer System within such district to the sewer system of said City was passed and adopted on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by L. J. Defosset by the following vote: Ayes: J. B. Berkemeyer, L. J.Defosset, Joseph Leary, L. F. Sinsheimer Epes: R. P. Howell Absent: None Application of San Joaquin Power Division, Pacific Gas & Electric Company No. 255 for certain pole work, particularly set out in said application on file, was granted on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by L. J. Defosset. The resignation of Miss Ethel E. Jack as Trustee of the Free Public Library of the City of San Luis Obispo was again taken u$. It was moved by J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell and carried that the resignation be accepted with regret, pro- vided that the lady can not be induced to continue as Trustee. Clerk instructed to address letter of commendation for past efficient services. It was moved by Joseph Leary, seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer and carried that the City Engineer be directed to prepare the necessary budget in order to proceed with the work on Highway No; 101 through the City of Stn Luis Obispo, such work to be that, 1 1 1 1 u
